The traffic was crawling along Petchkasem earlier, and we were looking up at your condo. Your flags look the worse for wear after the storm richard.

The funny thing about a day like today with power outages etc., is that everyone who didn't have any will run out and buy candles, flashlight and batteries. These will now sit for months and when needed again they'll be misplaced, batteries dead and candles melted from being in a cabinet. Oh well.....
FYI, the short temple candles are very good to keep on hand. They have a 3" diameter and 6" tall. Pete

Under the influence of a low-pressure ridge, the tourist town of Hua Hin is now struggling badly with floods.
The low-pressure ridge over the country's Eastern region and the Gulf of Thailand's upper part has wreaked havoc in the seaside Prachuap Khiri Khan.
Floodwater measuring between 30 and 70 centimetres deep spread across the Phet Kasem Road in the province's Hua Hin town in the wake of heavy downpours.
Between Thursday night and Friday morning, the province's rainfall ranged between 140 and 160 millimetres.
The waves off the province's coast were also between two and four metres high as of press time.
Several restaurants on the beach suffered damages amid the tough weather conditions.
Hua Hin City mayor Nopporn Wuttikul said the weather conditions went so bad that about 10 fishing trawlers sank in the big waves.
The Hua Hin - Pran Buri road also saw many uprooted trees and many road accidents.

Call that a power cut? We finally got ours restored at 9.20 PM!!!! And no shower this morning either because not only didn't we have power for water pump from tanks, but the town water stopped as well. We were all set to go spend the night in a hotel when the power finally came on.Big Boy wrote:Call that a power cut? Just got the electricity back after being off all morning. The electricity board said they had trouble all over HH with trees down etc.![]()
Looking forward to tonight's storm due to start at about 6 I believe.
And not only that - we got the power back only to find that our 3BB service is out and according to the call centre that's also due to the weather.

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
Yes, it was really bad - I've heard some of of the outlying area will be without power for at least 2 more days

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
Concerning Typhoon Haiyan, it hasn't even hit the Vietnam coast yet but the outer bands have already arrived in Rayong. Hard showers and lightning since about 1400 hours. These bands will probably work there way over to HH in due course. The main typhoon is predicted to go north along the Vietnam coast so hopefully we'll only get outer bands? ^ All the outer bands of the typhoon have now drifted north. It appears only some rain in Issan will be the impact on Thailand.

Too bloody true.................Big Boy wrote:Yes, it was really bad - I've heard some of of the outlying area will be without power for at least 2 more days

So - I'm now luxuriating in my Bangkok apartment having arrived to full power and internet an hour ago.
Not so at the Lodge
We lost several trees, one of which managed to take out our power supply - according to Mrs.T early on Friday morning. Partial supply restored on Sat afternoon - enough to keep the fridges and freezers running but no aircon, pumped water & fans for for 48 hrs or so.
Full power restored around 3.00pm today. Internet - tomorrow. One of the downed trees Having dragged the power supply with it.
Have to say that this has been the worst storm I've ever experienced (Damage - wise) in the 22 years that I've known Thailand.
Anyway - all is back to normal now.................but I'm looking at the weather
