I think you can get it of the internet. I got "invited" by another user, which is pretty much the same thing I guess - you still have to download.

Skype is fantastic - I talk to my Dad in the UK for free. Sometimes its a bit of a dodgy connection, but sometimes its fantastic. You just need mic and speakers. Also can use like MSN messenger just for 'chatting'

I use a webcam which has a builtin microphone. As ADW mentioned sometimes the line may not be 100%. Yesterday I spoke to a friend in the UK and we had the webcams operating. It was a fantastic connection with no delay whatsoever.
It's now or never.

We bought ours from IT Pawin (next to Halex), they've got a shelf-load of them (lots of different colours too :) ).

Niggle, u can buy any USB phone and as long as you have a skype account will be able to use it through their system. You can purchase also through the skype website.
They also have a WiFi mobile available now as well.

If you take this URL:

http://www.ipblue.com/usb_devices.asp

into the computer shop that Sandman mentions next to the Shell garage he will attempt to order on for you and give a price there and then.

I have no idea of the price but there is no technology in them that would justify a price of more than a few hundred Baht.

Guess is on the nail mate...if he doesnt have stuff he orders it and it comes in a day or three.... great service and for HH cheap prices as he goes off BKK prices.

My headset and mike is a works one, but you can get a nice one in a lot of places in town....as Guess said should be about 300bht for a good one. Even the camera shop opposite the police station sells em.

If you want to be really flash Sony do a mouse/flip phone combination for using with Skype....very flash, very compact....not cheap tho.

If its just day to day and static use Id go headset and mike. Mobile computing Id look for a mobile like usb fone or the mouse option.

I am not sure of the name of the shop, it is just past the San Paulo hospital, on the right hand side, there are 4/5 shops set back, the computer shop is next door to the off license. They have skype phones in there around 1500baht, they dont have any cordless ones, but they work fine.
You can also order from the Skype website, but postal staff here would probably have it away, your best bet is to wait until you or a friend go back to the U.K. and purchase one, from one of the many computer shops over there.
If you are using skype for mainly phone calls, then there is a cheaper system that we use and all you need is a normal landline phone, if you want details let me know.

I have a Skype Dualphone which was pricey but the call quality is excellent. Will operate up to 300m from the base station.

Whenever you buy any tech kit, it always pays to call their helpline and see how long they take to answer. If your handset has a battery pack, check you can source a replacement.
