I hope someone films what I expect will be a moment of chaos as the people rush in to grab something worth 300+ baht to get to the tills as quickly as possible :D

Edit: oh free gift. For some reason I read it as gift card
No chaos for that then.

I was there this afternoon. I think it's great, with a huge selection of western food stuff, including (finally) proper pickled onions. Not the best - from Morrisons - but they'll do for now.

Just be aware that they have some items in more than one place, that elsewhere are stocked together. So check out the imported shelves and then if not finding what you want, you have to look where the type of goods you want are stocked elsewhere.

Lots of western snacks and stuff that I haven't seen stocked elsewhere. Unlike the other supermarkets that do cater for westerners (bar the more expensive VM), even TOPS and Gourment Market as was, are/were guilty of not really catering for the expats here in Hua Hin by supplying more of the western stock they provide in Bkk. Big C seem to have made a special effort in this respect, so kudos to them for that.

The bread selection is amazing, but already suffers from long queuse at times, hopefully just teething problems.

A welcome addition to Hua Hin.

Looking forward to it. Have they widened the aisles?

I have no idea. But last week I used a trolly and was able to pass another trolly in an aisle with no problem.

Good news, that will make it a much better experience whilst pushing the wheelchair later.

We went back to Big C Marche today on the day of the grand opening. We did our weekly big shop, and I'm delighted to say everything we bought (we are creatures of habit, and buy the same core items each week) were either the same price, or in many cases considerably cheaper. I think we now have a new weekly shop venue. I actually mentioned as we were leaving, if the original Bluport had opened with this, it would most likely have been a success.

One disappointment was the pet food section. It wasn't a patch on Lotus's, and I feel that I've let my oldest dog down by not being able to buy his favourite treat. We'll have to call into Lotus's occassionally, just to buy his treats.

One bit I didn't like was the chocolate section. It really hurt walking past, and having to keep both hands on the wheelchair. However, I was naughty, and did p-p-pick up a couple of packs of Penguins  I think we saved enough on our shop to pay for the Penguins.

Oh, and yes, the aisles are definitely much bigger.

I've eaten at the new big C three times now, all good meals and well priced. I had a small problem today. I ordered fish & chips. There are 2 choices of fish, sea bass and black cod. I chose the black cod. It was good except the middle was a little raw, which was a pity. I did see today that they have whole Canadian lobster on the menu and for only 990 Baht which is a lot cheaper than the night market.
