Her Thai passport has actually run out, but she can still fly back on it and she’ll renew in BKK when there.

If she's coming to Hua Hin, she can renew in Bluport, which might be easier.

I am not sure it is a good idea for your wife to enter the country on a UK passport. She will then be given an exit date in her passport (30 days ?). Whilst it will probably sort itself out that could cause headaches in immigration in the future as she would technically be an overstay. And registered as a foreigner !

Far better to enter on an expired Thai passport. She then goes to Bluport (upstairs) etc and gets a new Thai passport . No problem and no odd entries in the database.

Not sure why you think that entering on a UK passport would be better ?

She’s only going for 26 days, so there’s no chance she’d be classed of overstaying if she goes on British passport.
As for renewing in HH, that’s only if her and family go there, they may decide to go North.

Fake Thailand Digital Arrival Card website alert
The first fake Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) website has already been spotted on the day that the real system made its debut for foreign visitors to the kingdom.

The fake website, claiming to be from an official third-party service provider, asks users to pay a processing fee of US$10 while the real one is free.

The TDAC system replaces the paper TM6 arrival cards that travellers used to fill out. It is required for all foreign nationals entering Thailand by air, sea or land and took effect on May 1.

Travellers can fill out their details at the official TDAC website, after which they will receive an email that they can show on arrival in the country.

Responding to confusion about the deadline for applying, the Immigration Bureau has clarified that applications can be submitted within a three-day period prior to arrival, but not earlier. Some previous reports said applications had to be made at least three days before arrival.

“The system is fully ready, and backup measures are in place to ensure smooth operations. During the initial phase, travellers who encounter any issues can temporarily use a paper immigration form,” the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said in a statement.

There are also computer terminals available at Immigration at Suvarnabhumi Airport for travellers who need to fill out a TDAC form when they arrive.

I visited Malaysia last week and had to complete their Digital Arrival Card. It wasn’t complicated but it was clunky and slow particular in adding dates.

I returned to Thailand yesterday 3 May and I obviously had to do the TDAC before my arrival. Completing the online form was easier than doing the Malaysian one and was pretty simple.

On presenting at Immigration at Swampy, everyone nervously had screen grabs of their TDAC on their phone before attending at the desk. It transpires that Immigration are not interested in the screen grabs or printouts as the system tells them the form has been done when they swipe the passport.

The IO that I dealt with asked me if I was going to Hua Hin as my address was on the TDAC in front of her. Other than that nothing and we exited Immigration in about 10 mins as virtually no queue.

^Yes, I came in to Bangkok yesterday without any problems and minimal delay.
The online entry form is pretty painless and is actually easier than trying to fill in that form they used to have with a tiny box to cram in your address.

Thai nationals are generally allowed to return to Thailand even with an expired Thai passport.
As a citizen, Thai nationals have the right to enter their own country. An expired passport does not negate this right

Airlines, however, might have their own policies regarding boarding passengers with expired passports. It's crucial to contact the airline directly before your flight to inquire about their specific regulations. Some airlines might allow boarding for Thai citizens returning to Thailand on an expired passport, while others might require some form of valid identification or an emergency travel document

Upon arrival in Thailand, Thai immigration authorities will allow entry to Thai citizens with an expired passport. She will likely need to present other proof of her Thai nationality, such as her Thai National ID card

She’s flown home on expired passport 10 years ago no problem, but she’ll carry her UK passport with her just in case.

Thinking about same day visa runs, to Ranong for instance. Does anyone know if this is affected by TDAC? Can you make the online application whilst still in Thailand?

There were reports of people making the application after arrival at the airport in Thailand, so it must be possible.

The reply to the TDAC online application is virtually instant, so doing it on arrival wouldn't be a problem. ( As long as the website is working! )

Was out of the country for 10 days and flew back in this week. had the pdf on my phone. Women at immigration asked me if I had it and I said yes. I presume she could see it on her screen as I wasn't asked to show her my pdf on my phone.

Time taken was the same as it has been for the last couple of years after tm6 was abolished . No issue with it. Same sort of stuff for flying into USA and other countries. Europe will implement it in October this year.

Way better than the old tm6 in terms of processing time. And no need to build new warehouses to hold the forms for 10+ years !
