Re: Best Instant Coffee available in Hua Hin
They use to have Old Town Coffee in Tops imported from Ipoh, but no more and it is only available online. Still, the best instant coffee anywhere in Asia!!
Re: Best Instant Coffee available in Hua Hin
All I have seen is that each packet is 3in1 coffee with milk and sugar. No thank you I do not want sugar

Found 2 in 1 here in Macau. Isn't this amazing? Even when the original photo is "standing", this one is of course lying. Maybe as lazy as me. I'll leave it to you BB.

Buddy Dean does a zero-sugar three in one which I presume has Stevia or a similar substitute in it.

I doubt that it’s the sugar that’s the problem, simply that the OP doesn’t like drinking sweetened coffee - the only drink I take with a small amount of sugar is hot chocolate - coffee and tea without any sugar.
The Coffee Thread
Did you happen to notice if Gourmet Market stocks Malaysian coffee brands?
Re: The Coffee Thread
I wouldnt have noticed, as I don't drink coffee!
But I was in the local one today, and they had something I had never seen before, a Malaysian condiment, known as 'Black' and I have no idea what that was. They also sell Linghams chille sauce from Malaysia, which was my favourite back in the UK! In fact, it was interesting to note that the range of western and other asian Foods has increased significantly, almost like another VM, but with cheaper prices.
I am in Bkk until next Tuesday, happy to look for whatever coffee you are after, I tend to treat the local GM in Emquartier as a local corner shop, as I generally stop there, wherever I have been, via train, as they have a proper taxi rank, to get a cab back to where I stay.
Talk is cheap
Re: The Coffee Thread
I don't know if they do this in Malaysia but when I lived in Indonesia, they made coffee by just pouring hot water over finely ground coffee and waiting five minutes for the grounds to settle to the bottom.
Then they added sugar or condensed milk. It's very simple and gives you a strong drink and I still make it that way sometimes if I don't have any other coffee making device around, much to the amazement of my European colleagues who generally have 1,000 euro Italian coffee machines in their kitchens!

Re: The Coffee Thread
Thanks Steve, but I am looking specifically for Ipoh instant. It is frustrating when it is so widely available in all the other neighbouring countries. Honestly, BKK is a bit of a disappointment compared to Kim Yong!

Re: The Coffee Thread
I was addicted to “Bali Dancer” ground coffee in Indonesia for quite a while, made simply by pouring hot water on the ground coffee in a cup.
I still pour hot water on ground coffee.
Success (no bits floating on the surface) depends on the brand, best discovered by trial and error.
Lately, I’ve been putting the ground coffee in a fine deep tea strainer bought from Daiso.
The strainer catches the big bits, coffee tastes pretty good with no bits in the brew; they are either at the bottom of the cup, or in the strainer.

I bought one of these from Laz for ground coffee, no messing around with papers or machines, very handy when camping!

Re: The Coffee Thread
^I have a similar filter that I bought in Hua Hin Makro that came with a glass flask that it sits in.
It looks like something from a school chemistry lesson but it works and only cost about 200bt.

I could also get a bus direct to Ipoh, but I was asking for a retailer in BKK.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 7:44 am You can by this online, if it's what you're after:

A strange reply indeed. You do know that when you shop online they deliver to your door ...? It's not even a new thing.wenshidi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 3:38 pmI could also get a bus direct to Ipoh, but I was asking for a retailer in BKK.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 7:44 am You can by this online, if it's what you're after:
