I wasn't stood outside the Thai Met Office on 27th January, but it definitely rained on me in Hua Hin. I remember the day because I was showing friends around Hua Hin, and I've just checked his trip report.

Per the Weather Channel for Hua Hin, chance for the first significant rain of the year coming up, or at least enough to clean up the air.

Not as hot this summer due to La Niña, just a mere 36 degrees on average for the next couple of months ...

Cooler summer likely, say weather chiefs
Thailand will officially enter summer next Friday, with temperatures expected to be slightly lower this year.

Summer this year will last until mid-May, Meteorological Department director-general Sugunyanee Yavinchan told media yesterday, adding that temperatures would be more moderate due to a cooler La Niña period.

One effect of this could be an increase of up to 20% in rainfall during the three-month period. However, summer rain is likely to be brief and limited to certain areas.

According to the forecaster, this summer is expected to see the mercury average between 35C and 36C, which is slightly lower than last year's average of 37.5C.

The seasons here change like the flick of a switch, a couple of weeks ago we were camping in the cool climes and now we need to put the a/c on again!

Exactly cold then hot in not more than a blink - they’ve been forecasting a few days of rain but it keeps slipping back a few days - maybe it’ll be next week?

Two days with rain here in the east. Yesterday a raging wind/rain storm that lasted an hour and almost tore out some small trees. Today medium rain for two hours that's just ending now. Completely unseasonal and confusing. I hope the termites remain confused!

Currently watching the footie at Rayong, and the rain is belting down there.

Soi 94, heavy rain and the power is gone. I added water to the pool this morning so I guess it's my fault.

Heavy downpour in Soi 106 around the same time also (11:30 pm). Power had gone off a little earlier - before the rain actually started, oddly enough.

Yes, we had a couple of small outages before the rain - seemed to coincide with lightning flashes.

Rain? I noticed the lights flickered a couple of times whilst watching the footy, but that was it.
