Camera SD card issue

Post by caller »

Help please!

Took some pics today, not many. I can view them via the viewer on the back of my camera, but when I transfer the card to my laptop, the pics don't appear on the SD card. Is this a camera, SD card or laptop issue? I use win11 to store photos before moving them elsewhere, I have tried to see if I have somehow hidden the pics, but can't find anything on win11 too unhide them, if indeed, that is the issue.

Many thanks.

Are you sure you've stipulated your SD card as the device to save them? If not it will probably be saved on your sim card or phone memory.

Does the camera have its own internal memory which is used when sd card isn't installed (os just not detected)? Can you connect the camera to PC by USB?

I'd also suspect this is the issue - you do need to stipulate where photos/videos/files are saved by default.

Both comments assume it’s a phone, but the OP mentioned a camera, so it could be a stand-alone camera, which wouldn’t have a sim!!

Fair enough, point taken - but has absolutely ZIP to do with a SIM.

Exactly, the OP never mentioned a SIM, hence why I suggested it might be a stand alone camera!!

Apologies - I hadn't seen the earlier reference to a SIM Card. Anywho, I'm sure "caller" will put us straight in due course.....

It's a proper camera, albeit aging, not a phone camera.

No internal memory. When the card is out it just says 'no memory card'.

Daft question I'm sure, but is the SD Card formatted correctly for the camera? Not the phone or the SIM or the.....

[EDIT] Also is the SD Card of the correct memory size? For example my Tablet will only accept an SD Card up to a certain size (memory) - I guess cameras would be the same?

As hhinner has suggested, try connecting the Camera to the laptop using a cable?

Have you uploaded to Win 11 before ? Is this the first time or the first time you had an oops, uploading ?

If first time having on oops, does the camera have other ways to transfer/upload, cable, wifi ? Using an axillary card reader, or direct into laptop ? Also restart the laptop, with the SDcard already in the laptop.
