Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
Hey guys, some more Info if possible. I have settled on estabishing an aquaculture business in Hua Hin. I am looking for a small pice of land to rent say 1 rai or slightly bigger prefer with a house on it or nearby.
I am also looking to hire one worker to start as an interpreter and or purchasing assistant, helper to kick this off.
My research let's me know that I can start or buy a business in Thailand, same rules as buying a bar, so I now see no hurdles other than logistics etc,
my budget is 100k au for the first 12 months with no payback in the first year but quickly expanding in year 2.
Totally open to constructive feedback
Kind regards
Lee

To be honest, you're not making a lot of sense. Have you actually visited Thailand before or coming for the first time? I suggest you get here first before making any grand plans.

Re: Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
What you are proposing to do is on the list of jobs restricted from foreigners to do. Also, there is a ratio of the number of Thai workers for every foreign (approved, with work permit) person allowed to work in an approved company. You'll also need a much bigger budget to start something here. I suggest you re-evaluate your objectives. And perhaps destination.

Also, I wouldn't base it in Hua Hin, land here is overpriced to say the least. You'll get much more for your money down Prachuap way.

I would suggest looking at the ministry of Labour Government Gazette Volume 137 part 92, last updated in 2020. There are also many websites that can point you to that information.

Re: Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
I have just completed my 3rd legal review on my business proposal and it's all legal and above board so now that it is again a proven concept and progressing very quickly. I just need to locate a small piece of land to start. Does anyone know of anything available in the area say up to 20k from Hua Hin. I also need an English speaking law firm to help file the Thai documents. Again thanks guys. Talk may be cheap but listening is priceless
Re: Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
What does that actually mean? Who completed the review - a Thai lawyer here in Thailand? I assume not, as you are asking for an English speaking law firm.

Re: Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
Aside from any legal issue, it is possible to rent small plots of land outside of Hua Hin for small scale agricultural use.
My partner has friends who rented a couple of rai for growing chilli for almost nothing, I think it was 2000bt/rai/year.
Wealthy Thais buy land for long term investment and they just want the land to be used so that they don't have it classed as abandoned and snatched by the government.

Re: Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
Caller, the red flags are contained in his post. He should not have Thai language documents purporting to be a business proposal, and having been 'reviewed' three times, supposedly by some law firm in Thailand. It is a viable business proposal for a Thai person, but not a foreigner. I'll also assume the person he is in contact with is female, with whom he has possibly had a past relationship, and she is the go-between.
The only person who will benefit from this will not be this gentleman.

yes, I've had a friend who owned land let someone else use it for a couple of years. The downside was trying to get the same land back at the same size, all the post markings were bulldozed and the neighbours encroached. Also, the big fish pond had most of the fish stolen late one night, so security of your investment is to be considered. And foreigners cannot possess firearms. But Thais can.
Yes, my wife also has a couple of rai in the provinces, but she gets around 20,000+ baht in rent per year. For 200 baht, I'd rather drive up and plant some banana trees on it to keep it from getting snatched. And paying the tax, of course.

Re: Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
My advice to O.P, is think again before getting involved in business dealings in Thailand. Sorry, but that is hard fact.

Re: Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
I completely agree, I was just pointing out that it does go on.Steve

My partner has small business dealings in Thailand but I never get involved at all, it's too much bother. ( See the post above! )
Re: Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
I suspect that the OP is wanting to use this option. 30 years ago, a Farang friend in Pattaya set up a prawn hatchery in surface tanks breeding juveniles. I think that he did it through a company set up similar to that used for buying a house. It went ok for a while, until some Thai complained, and he had to either shut it down; or be prepared to have an appointment with a furnace at a local Temple!Under Thai Law foreigners are prohibited to engage in any of the following occupations

30 years ago, it was possible to spread around a few purple coloured notes, and play around as you liked, but I doubt that will work today!

Re: Seeking land and worker for aquaculture business
On this subject, what if I wanted to have few crops and a fish pond on a plot of land my wife owns, would there be a justication for legal complaint against me if I am on the land while my wife is attending to the fish or crops?
