Hi guys. Im moving from Brisbane to HuaHin in the next few weeks and will be looking for an apartment or similar. I need 2 things 1 a two bedroom apartment any suggestions please and
2 a housekeeper,
I will offer the house keeper free rent for cleaning and cooking meals for me when needed she will have her own room and no expectations from me just honesty and trust worthy is all I ask, is this possible? I don't want a party house
Cheers

Apartment and room mate wanted
Re: Apartment and room mate wanted
There's a lot wrong with your expectations Lee in my estimation. If you're getting a 2 bedroom just for 1 bedroom to be occupied by a housekeeper, forget that. Save money and get a 1 bedroom. Find a maid or a cleaning service to come in once a week, or whatever fits your schedule.
What the person would be able to cook you probably wouldn't like, at least during your early days here. Forget any ability to cook western food unless the person has restaurant or western husband experience. You would be better served by eating out at the hundreds of places with every type of food you can imagine. Plus, use the microwave/stove an apartment probably has for quick store bought meals. The selection of these is vast.
People need monetary payment as well. They all have families and/or responsibilities for bills, so simply a free room and board barter deal for work would be very difficult to find a legitimate person. Legitimate meaning a person not looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend.
Lastly, even if the person is 50+ years old it will be impossible initially for any westerner to know about their honesty. They could be like your auntie back home, or could rob you blind the first week and then disappear.
Sorry if these are things you don't want to hear, but reality here. Good luck.

Thank you, just fishing for replies and yours helps cannot wait to arrive
Re: Apartment and room mate wanted
You also need to consider cost and location - prices will vary - will you have transport?
Talk is cheap

Best thing is to book yourself into a modestly priced hotel and if you hire a scooter initially, you can travel around to search for suitable accommodation- I’ve not looked for years but Hua Hin is always awash with every type of property so it shouldn’t be difficult.

A two bed is best if you expect often to invite family or close friends to stay for weeks at a time. Otherwise save the money. I was asked last year if I wanted a young Thai lady student in need of a room if she could stay at my 3 bed house where I only use one. No rent or other financial exchange, and she would help with keeping the house and garden clean and tidy. The offer was made by a nice European lady friend whom I trust, but I'd just lost my wife and so wasn't open to others staying at the time. You might be lucky like this once you've made some friends here who might have contacts, but a housekeeper? Like PeteC I wouldn't advise it for a small apartment.

I'm curious. How difficult would it be to just clean up after yourself, make the bed, and dump the rubbish?
Also, arriving with just two suitcases just off the boat without a clue as to how to speak the language is quite a change of environs.
It isn't Bali, where you can go enjoy the beach with mates, Thailand is quite a different kettle of fish when it comes to a slightly longer stay.
If you're coming for a holiday, some places do entertain extended stay rates, but getting a room long term can be quite involved. Scooters can be rented, don't be in too much of a hurry to part with your hard earned cash..
My two cents.

Thank you. I will follow your guys advice and will just get a hotel until a find the lay of the land. There is no hurry
I will buy you guys a drink when I arrive. In the meantime I am open to all advice you have to share. I have been to Thaland a number of times but just as a tourist. Was confused Whether or not to move to Vietnam. Cambodia or the phillipines but the cost of living over there is winning out.
Every time I've visit the Phiipines I have had a maid and that's always been a good idea. Thought I would try the same there. If I have to pay a wage then also will consider that. Again thanks guys Stay safe
