Twisted Metal is 10 x 30 minute episodes of post-apocalypse style road trip action. Guns, explosions, guns on cars, and humour and love story.
Based on the old Playstation game, but there's no brutal car rollerderby action, and I can see that will maybe be the basis of the second season. Not sure if I'm interested, I just enjoyed the Max Max/Fallout crossover vibes of this season.

Jeremy Clarkson has fired up his tractor again for the third season of Clarkson's Farm.
Two others I've got lined up are Granite Harbour, a Scottish police drama, and 16th century English whodunnit Shardlake ... I know, but not much new sci-fi about at the moment!

I've got both on my hard drive too, thankfully I see my Granite Harbour has subtitles, probably needed for the first couple of episodes until attuned to the accent (I remember the first time I watched Shetlands...).

Spy/Master is worth watching (unless you're not a subtitles person, they're needed although most dialogue is in English). The first three episodes are really excellent 1970s Eastern European spy work, the last three episodes are pretty good too.

Dramas I'm really enjoying at the moment, in no particular order of merit.
A gentleman In Moscow ( the book is fantastic)
A Man in Full
Mary & George
Parish
Sugar
The Sympathizer
The Tattooist of Auschwitz
The Veil

Granite Harbour was quite good, a suspected murder wrapped up in three one hour episodes, second series already out. A Jamaican ex royal military policeman wants to be a detective and joins the Scottish constabulary as a probationer, but doesn't want to waste time toeing the line.

Hmm, I'm halfway through ep 1 and not convinced yet. My extensive knowledge of police procedure (gained from my time in the Met's Flying Squad, after I left the SAS and before I joined MI6) leaves me mildly unimpressed so far. I will persevere though.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 6:04 pm Granite Harbour was quite good, a suspected murder wrapped up in three one hour episodes, second series already out. I might give it a try and give my views, although I’m proving difficult to please these days so not too optimistic!!

I’m not sure whether you were watching series 1 or the new series 2 - I’ve just watched the first episode of series 2 and thought it was ok, by that I mean it’s not the best programme I’ve watched but definitely not the worst, so will quite happily watch the rest of the series.

Just to offer some balance, FWIW I didn't get past S1 E1 about 9 months agoDannie Boy wrote:I’m not sure whether you were watching series 1 or the new series 2 - I’ve just watched the first episode of series 2 and thought it was ok, by that I mean it’s not the best programme I’ve watched but definitely not the worst, so will quite happily watch the rest of the series.

OK, so try Deep State maybe, although perhaps they aren't following the CIA and MI6 handbooks correctly! The US are trying to destabilise Mali to force a US base onto the country. Two years on and two MI6 officers are involved for a personal agenda and upset plans. Half way in and I'm finding it enjoyable.

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading
First off, I ended up watching all 3 episodes of S01 of Grantire Harbour, so consider me converted.
I watched Deep State a little while ago and enjoyed it very much, though I preferred the first series starring Mark Strong.
