Sandwash sealing

Post by 2dandan »

6 months ago I had the sandwash on my pool terrace dug up and replaced with new sandwash. I am familiar with the discolourisation of my previous sandwash.

When I returned to HH I was surprised to see how dirty the new sandwash has become.

I have pressure washed it and it is nice and clean again. My question is has anyone had their sandwash treated with a sealant which helps keep it clean. If so, what was it called.

TOA has two products for this. 200-Flooring Plus (water soluble) and 113 Micro kill. Apply Micro kill first then two coats of Flooring Plus. Will last for up to two years before having to recoat when algae begin to reappear. TOA also has a Oil based coating for the same thing. There is another oil base product I also found at Home Pro that worked too. After years of going through these coatings I just recently gave up and bit the bullet and removed all the sand wash and tiled all of the surfaces. Tiling was expensive but sure looks beautiful all the time and only needs to sweep or clean off with water if anything on it. I just permanently eliminated the problem.

Thank you for your reply. It appears to be a lot of expense and work for little short term benefit. I have decided to invest in additional guttering to reduce the roof water run off and thereafter just pressure wash it when required.
