Both Seiko and Citizen - Japanese brands - manufacture in Thailand.

There is plenty of demand here for both brands, although G-shock are usually the biggest seller.

I spoke to my other half about this, she works for the Mall Group, and she explained that for each sale, Bluport take a commission, plus there is rent, and Seiko's prices have been increasing, so probably reached a tipping point where it just wasn't worth there while any more.

I like Seiko, I have 4. In Bkk, good Seiko concessions, with large selections, can be found at Central Chit Lom and Siam Paragon, with the latter having the added bonus of one of the best selection of brands under one roof, with everything from MB&F, Moser, FP Journe and their ilk, all the way down to the fashion brands. Sadly, still no Bremont though.

Agree with the OP about the pre-owned market here, very large and dealers can be found in Bkk at MBK, Central World, River City, K village, the antique part of chatuchak, where the car park is, across the road from the main entrance, and no doubt there are many others too. I recall seeing a very in demand pre-owned Omega snoopy in Central World. So for a bit of fun, I asked the price, a cool 1.1m baht!

I've just been in Market Village and the watch stall in the basement does have a few Seikos. It's the one in the corner at the back near the motorbike parking that is mainly Casio.
They don't have many but there were some nice divers models, both quartz and mechanical and a few dress watches.

Presumably genuine ones?

They certainly looked genuine and were priced for that.

Seiko used to be a great brand offering a well made product at a decent price. Sadly they have slipped in recent times. They do still make some awesome models such as the Spring Drive series if you want a full on mechanical watch at an equally awesome price. The lower spec 6R(XX) and 4R(XX) caliber models are still yet to prove themselves.
If you want an automatic be wary of the caliber 7S(XX) watches as they are VERY downgrade versions of the Seikos of old, They are shocking time keepers! Back in the day I used to get brand new ones into my workshop, barely running at all.
Seiko also let them selves down with poorly made casings,Chinese made of course.
Their solar models are way too complicated compared to, say the Citizen Eco-Drives which, incidentally are so much better engineered and built and tend to sell at a lower price point than the rival Seikos too.
Be very wary of second hand Seikos especially in BKK because a hell of a lot of them are dodgy especially the divers/sports models.
If I was out buying I would go for a Citizen Eco-Drive, or a proven Citizen 82(XX) series automatic if you can still find one.
Casio make some interesting stuff but their G Shocks can be a problem ,especially if you need parts such as a new band.
They are very robust and if you want to give your watch a hammering they are hard to beat, but they should not go in the shower or spa like all other sports watches
Complexity is so simply overrated

I went there this morning and i found that they sell the watches without boxes, warranty and certificate. One time they say "don't have" and another time they say "can find, yes". That leaves me very suspicious. Maybe the watches are genuine but coming from some grey-grey market
