Pattaya Tourist Police were satisfied after finding no illegal prostitutes during yesterday’s tour around risky spots.
The inspection, which aimed to stifle illegal prostitution and came after complaints from concerned citizens claiming prostitutes were operating in Pattaya, took place at midnight on January 14th and was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Pichaya Kheawpluang. The police patrolled around risky spots such as Beach Road and Walking Street to look for suspects and put flyers on venues’ front gates to warn tourists to “Be aware of their belongings and don’t trust strangers.”

I must say, it must be nigh on impossible to walk around Pattaya's 'risky spots' and not find a single prostitute. I used to have problems, just laying on the beach over there, but, of course, I am a hansum man, and quite a catch. What chance of catching real criminals? Unbelievable!!!

The article says the inspection took place at midnight - I think that all of the girls would have been busy by then!!

I doubt every girl from every GoGo bar would have been employed that early. However, during my Pattaya period (last century), it wasn't unusual to be going to bed as the sun came up. Today's generation assure me things have got better

The way I understand it, all prostitution is illegal.

It's a bit like police traffic stops - sometimes they are looking for road tax, sometimes drink, sometimes drugs, sometimes wearing of helmet, sometimes driving licence, etc. Rarely do they check everything.

A headline like that could actually kill Pattaya's tourism overnight. IF they believed it, most of the blokes (and some ladies) I know would be cancelling their holidays now.

The article says that they didn't find any. Not the same as there are none.
Unless you're being solicited you can't prove someone is a prostitute and I'm sure the ladies weren't soliciting the poleece.

I don't understand the scepticism here. When I went to Pattaya I didn't see any sex workers, just a lot of beautiful young ladies, most of whom, quite understandably, found me attractive and wanted to spend some time with me.
