PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: The mayor of Hua Hin has a dream to build a tower on a mountain as a new tourist attraction.

Hua Hin mayor Nopporn Wutthikul said on Thursday he had instructed the municipality to design a tower to be built atop Hin Lek Fai mountain in Hua Hin district, to be a new landmark.

A giant Hua Hin sign would be erected at the base of the tower, which would have an elevated walkway for visitors, he said.

The mayor said the tower would be a prime viewpoint to enjoy the vista of the resort town, and it would attract tourists to the district.

The municipality will seek a central budget for construction if the tower, if it is approved by the town, he added.

The development of Hin Lek Fai is already a 'white elephant'.
It has the infostructure and the attraction but has never been promoted.
Any attempt at promoting Hin Lek Fai is an attempt to make it more aware.

They have a bird sanctuary, various vewpoints, ample parking, an excellent road giving access and more. There 'were' shops and restaurants which have since closed down.

It's been taken over by an aggressive monkey troupe.

A tower is not going to do it. It needs to be promoted for what it is. How many have seen a brochure in hotels and 'Tourist Information' showing it as a 'place to visit'.

Judging by the artists impression in the link, the proposed skywalk for Hua Hin looks a more attractive idea than the tower and sign thing.
