Yes but an MRI scan can be selective in which part of the body is scanned - I once had a brain scan and it only covered the very top section of my body as opposed to the chest cavity or lower abdomen. I suspect that “lower extremities” may include the areas around the bladder, kidney, prostate etc!!

What is an MRI of the Lower Extremity and what does it do?
An MRI of the Lower Extremity is useful in examining:
Degenerative disorders such as arthritis
Labral or meniscus tears
Traumas involving ligaments and tendons
Swelling or bleeding in the tissues in and around the joints
Fractures
Sports or work related injuries cause d by repeated strain, vibration or forceful impact
Infections (such as osteomyelitis)
Tumors (primary tumors and metastasis) involving bones and joints

Re: MRI Scan in Hua Hin
Approx 8 - 10,000 for MRI at Hua Hin Hospital depending on whether you need contrast injection
MRI machine is OK, not too narrow as to freak me out!
But the admin staff in that Department did.
I fully appreciate that they are not an International Hospital and they are there to look after their own people.
But even so, I genuinely question their basic administrative competence.
So I wish you luck in dealing with them. Cheap but very stressful.
If I recall Bkk Hospital HH will be double that if not more.
Ps lower extremities in my book would be knees, feet and ankles. Lucky you, you can read a book whilst having an MRI!!

A friend had an MRI at BKK Hospital a couple of years ago. It cost just over 25K. He found it was cheaper to drive to Bangkok and get it at Bumingrad.

Bumrungrad I assume.HHTel wrote:A friend had an MRI at BKK Hospital a couple of years ago. It cost just over 25K. He found it was cheaper to drive to Bangkok and get it at Bumingrad.
That's astonishing re lower price even after transport costs. It's like a 6 star hotel that place. I'd go there every time and whilst there do some shopping etc etc
Not had an MRI there but another type of scan. Was looked after very well.

Re: MRI Scan in Hua Hin
Hua Hin Hospital apparently has an excellent diagnostic imaging department.
According to what I've been told by a friend who because of various health issues, has used all of the the hospitals in Hua Hin extensively, they actually have a better range of more up-to-date equipment than Bangkok Hospital.
I can't testify to that from personal experience, however.

The problem with HH hospital is the bureaucracy and the shuffling from one person to another. Typical government BS. Other than that, I've always found the treatment to be excellent and I can't complain about the prices, especially compared to BKK hospital.GroveHillWanderer wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 2:36 pm Hua Hin Hospital apparently has an excellent diagnostic imaging department.

Blood test at HH; 1200 bht, at BKK: 4000 bht.
