The Digital Surgery (computer questions/problems here)
Re: The Digital Surgery (computer questions/problems here)
Vstarcam has a PC app called Eye4. When I had some of their cameras this was the only way I could download files from the cameras to PC. Eye4 is also available for Android.
Re: The Digital Surgery (computer questions/problems here)
Thank you hhinner, but that is the problem. My laptop won't let me access those apps, so I have been looking elsewhere. laser has shown me that it is defender preventing access, so rather than mess about somewhere I'm unfamiliar with, I will speak with Mr Don when my quarantine ends. In the meantime, should I really need to view on my laptop, I do have a few workarounds that I can use.

Sorry, I didn't notice the vstarcam links in laser's post. Weird.Big Boy wrote:Thank you hhinner, but that is the problem. Re: The Digital Surgery (computer questions/problems here)
I just tried downloading the Eye4 program and I think I see the problem, unless you're sure that it's windows defender doing the block.
What I see is:
Opened vstarcam.com/software download in my PC browser (I used Brave, but same thing happened in Chrome when I tried).
Right click on arrow below 'Eye4 for Windows' and select Save link as...
At this stage the browser shows a notification that Supercam.... zip can't be downloaded securely. Selecting the button next to 'Discard' allows you to keep or learn more.
Why does this happen? It's because the original site (vstarcam.com) is a secure site (https) but the download is handed off to a non-secure site (http). Browsers treat this secure/non-secure handoff as suspicious.
You can select the keep option and go ahead with the download. If there is a problem with the file Microsoft defender should disallow it with a virus or Trojan warning more specific than the 'can't be downloaded securely' warning. You can also check the file by scanning it after download. Also to be doubly sure search the internet for reports that this is a dangerous file.
How this helps.

Re: The Digital Surgery (computer questions/problems here)
:
With file download problems you can try these simple measures:
1. Relax the security settings of your browsers. For example, in Chrome go to Settings/ Security and Privacy / Security and select "No protection" - for the time being.
2. Switch off the "real-time" virus check "feature" of "Windows Defender". Microsoft describe one way here (there are other ways as well)
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... d776b77960
In case the download site would be blacklisted in some 'security database' to keep away browsers, I uploaded the Z player for you to 2 sites:
https://mega.nz/file/V41CxDDR#9EYvBxnWo ... k38z288xrM
or
https://www.mediafire.com/file/8cff6yea ... r.zip/file
This is a player that dealt with the file claimed to be raw "h264" file. It's clean according to virustotal.com.
Now, if you still would not be able play your fancy files, sites like https://www.sendspace.com/ etc. allow file uploads/sharing without nagging & user registration. You can upload some sample video file over there, then - the smart way - just share its download link here on this forum.

The Incredible Shrinking Type Face
While typing I must have hit the wrong key and the typeface shrunk to this size. How do I restore it?

Ctrl with + or - adjusts the browser text size (for Chrome anyway). Ctrl with 0 (zero) resets it.
