Do you think Torquay will last as a football team now that they've left the league? I wouldn't be surprised to see Plainmoor turned in to expensive housing very soon. They have minimal support, no ambition - what's the point of carrying on?
That's not much of a challenge - most teams expect to beat Torquay! At least we get to beat Torquay

Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 0 Hull City

Pete,
Traditionally there are 4 divisions, but instead of calling them 1, 2, 3 & 4 as they did in the good old days, they are now Premiership, Championship, Division 1 and Division 2. Some may also argue that there is now a 5th division ie the Conference.
Regarding Colchester, they are currently in the Championship, and have finished in what must be their best ever position (somebody shoot me down - I've not checked), 1 place above my team, Plymouth.

Thanks for the info BB.
I've been thinking as living here, and everyone I know eats, sleeps and talks football, I need to adopt a team starting next season.
I've been doing some light reading and I seem to be attracted to Newcastle United. I don't have a real reason why except that I don't want to latch on to one of the yearly favorites, I want a team that has potential and high hopes. Maybe I'll begin to be able to talk intelligently with you guys about this sport....LOL.
So, what do you think? Have I made a wise choice? Pete

Newcastle???
Well..............good choice/bad choice?
It has pros and cons. Newcastle are a team with high ambition, but very little talent. They certainly have an awful lot to learn, and it could be good for you to learn with them as continue to make mistakes. However, they've been making the same mistakes for quite some time, so there may not be that many lessons worth taking notice of.

Pete,
Talking football and intelligence don't mix!
Still, the geordies have got a new manager who has done really well at his last club for a good few years, and they could be on the point of a takeover, which could inject some much needed cash into the club. They have in Michael Owen, one of Englans best goalscorers and when fit, a certainty for the England 1st XI. there's also a rumour they will be seeking to take Becks on loan once the American season ends!
Dull it won't be!
Good luck.

OK, Newcastle it is. Get ready to change your to next season BB... .
I think I saw they finished a bit ahead of Thaksin's new team this season so at least I can perhaps get some delight watching them kick his ass next season.
I think it's a pretty good bet I'll get to seem them play on TV here from time to time. if I went with someone like Colchester I'd never see anything. Pete
