I’m not sure what’s happened to second hand car prices in Thailand but in the UK small economical cars have increased by about 20% in the past year due to the shortage of new cars as a result of supply problems with semiconductors. Thailand has always been expensive for second hand cars and that may now be exacerbated?

If made / assembled in Thailand, then new vs 2nd hand pricing usually isn't worth the risk, IMHO, unless on a very tight budget.

Which case, the way the economy is, it should be a buyers market here for 2nd hand.
Did you scan the classified on this forum. You also have FB marketplace, along with other sites, kaidee and such.

Way back when, shopping for first car, 20+ yrs ago here, the 2nd hand car lot pricing were silly. On my 4th new one, as don't even consider used any more. First 3 were entry level, made in Thailand. 4th one, last year, up my comfort level a bit, since MGs hit the market at reasonable price for a small SUV assembled here, so avoid the import tax add on.

MG3 is entry level pricing, and worth a peek, though you do get what you pay for. Around town decent, if a lot of highway driving, and if the same as my Vios (2) or Mazda2, ride & noise level aren't the best. Drive trains are no problem, as all seem to have the 1.2 / 1.3 / 1.5L engines down to a science.

Happy shopping. Good Luck

Last few months I too was looking for a small car for us to do 100 km/day school runs (25 x 4). It is a mine field, any decent private car was snatched up quickly the rest were used tent or Russian resellers.

No way I would go through a Russian reseller and the tents, OMG. We always asked if the car had accident or was a flood car. The answer was always no. On one occasion we found what looked like a nice 2019 Mirage. Only 19000 kms it looked like new. I noticed that the top of the passenger tail light had a tiny chip out of it which I found odd until I noticed what looked like a poor sanding job that had been from a respray. I suspected it had an accident however my wife took it for a test drive. While she was driving I opened the glove box. It contained a receipt from the body shop for damage repair and a new rear door. Well it wasn't serious damage so we returned to the show room and I asked to see the green book. They said it was wet and they had to order a new one, LOL we left. A week later we seen another Mirage advertised, again with low mileage. Same opening question did it have accident or flooding, no it didn't assured us the sales lady. As soon as we open the door it had a bit of a musty smell. We then opened the hatch and lifted the spare tire tray and WTF there was still water around the spare tire.
Long story short we bought a new Celerio, my wife really likes it. Because of the tall roof our giant son easily fits in the rear seat and the view is great. We also have a Fortuner and we call the Celerio baby Fortuner. Very similar view and tight turning radius my wife find it very easy to park compared to her previous Ford Fiesta. New with pearl white paint and Android entertainment center it was 413,000. Well worth it and I don't need to worry about its history.
