Importing to Thailand

Post by migrant »

I'm thinking of importing some items into Thailand and have been doing some research. I think I have the process down and will use an agent but if anyone knows a kindly person that is very familiar with the process I sure would like to chat with them to see if I'm leaving something out.

Happy to pay any necessary expenses related to this (beer, wine, etc)

Using an agent is a wise choice. Will cost you but pay you back in the long run as they manage the government and all of its ridiculous requirements.
I brought a box of 18 items from the U.S. last year and when it got to DHL in Thailand they sat on it for a week before even trying to clear customs then when they did they didn't understand what some of the products were so required a medical certificate and determined their one value on the contents though not knowing what many were.
Using an agent could eliminate all that nightmare, extra cost and time involved..

Hi,
I had experience in import/export a few years back. I'm sure you've got this in hand, but have you found out the tariff code is for the items you want to import. For some categories the import tax can be ridiculously high.

Thanks Robin. I am still in the research stage, do you know a website, or wherever to get the tax rate?
