Who is going to go to all these venues? It must be aimed at the Bangkok weekend crowd as there sure aren't enough foreigners around.

I'm assuming all of these venues are expecting a massive influx of Bangkokians over the weekend. Otherwise, I have no idea who they are marketing to!

Five different locations have been designated by the Hua Hin Municipality for Loy Krathong celebrations on October 31. Each should have sufficient parking, and food stalls/shops available.

Hua Don Beach, Khao Takiab (near the ferry pier)

Queen Sirikit Park, Soi 19

Nong Kae Community

Khao Takiab Community

Khao Tao Reservoir

If you happen to be in Bangkok today, below is a listing of Loy Krathong venues.

After your walk tomorrow BB you'll have to tell us the condition of the Khao Tao Reservoir, and if filled with floating junk?

Yes, I should be able to resume my walks tomorrow. Parking is impossible while they clear everything away.

I must say, I am very impressed with the overall general cleanliness of Khao Tao. The roads and footpaths are constantly cleaned (actually had a fire engine power washing everything a couple of days before Loy Krathong). Hedges, grass and even reeds are regularly pruned around the lake, and they do clear floating debris quite regularly. On Loy Krathong day, they have a boat clearing spent Krathongs throughout.

Of course, so many Krathongs are floated, they will miss some, but I expect it to be sorted very quickly.

I have often wondered why this area is so clean compared to many other parts of Thailand, and I think, having read the history of the lake and the monument recently it must be funded by the Royal Commission who actually paid for the creation of the lake in the first place.

As requested, when I visited Khao Tao lake this morning at about 10am, I took special note of the debris after Saturday night's Loy Krathong Festival when thousands of krathongs were floated on the lake.

When we arrived, the (I presume Tessebahn) workers were clearing the remaining decorations:

A few fisherman were taking advantage of the Krathong launching station at the end of the pier.

The lake seemed mainly clear of debris. Here is a picture from Saturday night showing the clutter of Krathongs

and this photo from a similar position this morning:

We proceeded to walk anti-clockwise around the lake, and apart from an occasional abandoned Krathong and many floating marigolds, the East, North and West banks were virtually clear of debris.

The South Bank (I guess wind direction played a big part) was a lot more affected. However, when you consider how many Krathongs were launched, the debris was minimal and most would degrade by itself.

Overall, and excellent job, very well done. Knowing the team at Khao Tao I'm sure the remaining debris has already been removed.

On this morning's walk, I would estimate 90% of the South Bank debris has also been cleared now,
