Hua Hin Heart specialist

Post by musungu »

I have a friend here who wishes to see to see a heart specialist. I know a number of medical specialists have private practices which they open later in the day - can anyone suggest a name and contact details.

I can recommend Dr Polpat at Hua Hin Heart Clinic. Located on the east side of Pethckasem road just south of Bangkok Bank. He also has a clinic at Bangkok Hospital and works at Hua Hin hospital. He is a top Heart consultant I would advise your friend to consult him at his Clinic on Petchkasem Road

I've never had to use him, thankfully, but we have a lot of good reports on the forum about Dr Polpat. I've also had friends use him, and they reckon he's been spot on.

I think the clinic (near the Esso Garage) is simply walk in.

In my experience, what ever the price is at BKK, it's about 1/2 that price at a private clinic or HH Hospital. However, they testing at BKK is very thorough. I had a complete physical there in 2014 and it was well worth the price. Check to see if they are having a "sale." I received an email a couple of weeks ago that listed the services and prices at a reduction.

While not from Hua Hin, I was a regular at Bangkok hospital in Bangkok. Their prices are exorbitant, and the hospital is run more as a business venture than a hospital. Yes, they do have modern equipment, but will try and strong arm you into using it. They also charge for every little thing, and use designer meds where none is really necessary. As a long time patron (due to insurance policy and the fact it was next door to the office) I would not recommend them. I used to drive all the way to Mayo hospital rather than walk next door. However Mayo has now been bought over by Paolo hospital, another overpriced hospital chain.. :(

When I had my heart problem, I went to the Saimai hospital in Bangkok, part of the Central hospital chain. They are more reasonable, and as it is under the social welfare scheme, I was able to claim benefits. Did not burn a hole in the pocket, but as it is a private hospital they are still quite pricey if you have to fork out on your own. YMMV.

Was at HH Hospital express clinic today and noticed that the room next door to the clinic is being fitted out as a Heart & Neuro clinic. At least that is what the signage says, do not know when it is going to open.

When it does, make sure that the heart dr. isn't just out of med school or old and on the way into retirement. I've dealt with both types at BKK Hua Hin. The youngest one was a disaster the other useless.
