same in england its NOT being taken very seriously
I am in the UK now, we returned last week, looks like we got out just in time, judging by the chaos in getting flights booked right now,

I am in North Yorkshire and it does seem to be taken seriously where I am.

The supermarkets and local smaller food stores have people outside instructing customers to stand well apart, and its one customer in only when one customer leaves.

The buses are more or less empty, and the roads are very very quiet, mostly delivery trucks and pharmacy deliveries, its a paradise for cyclists and joggers.

The local restaurants are all shut but many offer a phone in takeaway delivery service.

The Doctors surgery is shut, and appointments are conducted by phone or video call,

These are very strange times, so stay safe everybody.
I believe there was near anarchy on the streets of Hawes when the tea rooms shut :naughty: :naughty: :duck:

Not sure if this should be posted here, so Mods please feel free to move elsewhere.

Have always thought the use of Screensavers to go through data etc. is a great idea and a useful tool.

It appears to me that a screensaver application similar to many at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php could help in the fight against COVID-19 by "number crunching"/analysing data - "Rosetta@Home" (http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/) being an ideal example.

I wonder if anything exists at the moment for COVID-19, or if any existing programs could be modified to help?

The Public Health Ministry on Wednesday reported 107 new local cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), raising the total to 934 with deaths unchanged at four, blaming the spread mainly on partygoers.

Dr Taweesin Wisanuyothin, spokesman of the ministry, said the new cases were divided into three groups.

The first group comprised 27 people who were in contact with previous patients or attended the venues of previous patients. They included four people from boxing stadiums and an inter-provincial bus driver.

Five others were from entertainment places - a visitor, a singer, a receptionist, a musician and an entertainment venue owner.

Fourteen others had been in contact with previous patients, including a vendor, a student, a taxi driver, a prison inmate and a policeman. Four others had attended religious ceremonies in Malaysia and they lived in the southern provinces of Songkhla and Yala.

The second group of 13 consisted of six returnees and foreigners - from Britain, France and Germany - five who were in crowded places or worked with foreigners, including a cashier, and two doctors who treated a patient who initially withheld the information that he had visited a boxing stadium.

Curfew looking more likely ...
Not just yet...

"This afternoon Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha addressed the nation on Thai Television. He began by laying out the exact roles that he and other Ministers will be taking during the coming weeks to quell the spread of the Coronavirus Novel CoV-2 and the disease that it causes, Covid-19. Like many other countries, he and the Congress have created a Covid-19 Task Force which he will head up along with the Minister of Health. They will also provide daily press briefings on radio and television and post to YouTube. He reiterated the need to enact the 2005 Executive Degree on Public Emergency Law in order to have one focal person, him, that will direct, staff and communicate the ongoing efforts to self-quarantine, voluntary isolation, temporary closing of businesses which foster close personal contact and the absolute need to exercise sensible social distancing.

He stressed the need for the country to come together for the common good of reducing the spread of the Covid-19 disease and observing restrictions and temporary ordinances that will prohibit social gatherings in public and private places. He called upon the media and the public to be responsible with information published in the press and on social media. Posting or publishing false information, unsubstantiated treatments and remedies or unfounded criticism will result in swift action. He urges everyone to stay calm, do not panic, be peaceful and respectful and most importantly, come together as a Nation. He warned businesses, stores, shops and vendor that there would be severe consequences for price gouging, inflating prices and hoarding of critical supplies both for personal consumption and medical supplies for hospitals and clinics. The more vigilant the country is now, the sooner this Emergency Degree of Law will be lifted. The police and the army will be enforcing the Task Force's mandates over the next 36 days but he said that he feels confident that the people of Thailand will cooperate for the common good.

He asked that citizens -
1. Stay at home unless your job is essential to the public.
2. Do not congregate in large groups
3. Wash your hands
4. Use a face mask if you go out into the public
5. Practice social distancing of 2 meters
6. Self-quarantine and self-isolation will be appreciated
7. Limit travel out and into the country and between provinces.
8. Consult doctors if you feel the symptoms of Covid-19 and be tested if they deem necessary.
9. Continue with the restrictions implemented by the Ministry of Health last Wednesday [Stage 1]

Commerce will continue to move throughout the country but it will be highly regulated and monitored. Hospitals and clinics will continue to operate to their capacity.

Stage 2 Enforcement will begin tomorrow 26 March and last until 30 April.

The 2005 Executive Degree on Public Emergency Law gives the Prime Minister Ultimate Authority to act in the best interest of the country as a whole. He will speak again tomorrow afternoon to elaborate on what measures they will be taking moving forward.

*****The Covid Hotline is 1111*****

[During the briefing there was no mention at all of curfews, check points or arresting people for assembling in groups of more than five people.]"

Covid-19 Task Force which he will head up along with the Minister of Health.
Well that'll solve everything. So where are the scientists and medical experts. This is worse than Trump's administration. At least he does have people around him to limit his BS.

No mention during the PM briefing, but what about the bit that followed? Mrs BB reckoned that was where things like checkpoints were mentioned, or at least, army and police stopping people, which I assumed were the checkpoints.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

This could be a way forward to getting back to some sort of normality if it works, a self test kit is almost ready for use:

Just got back after a few bevvies at one of my local restaurants. Whilst there, both the owner and a customer that arrived said that from tomorrow there is an 8pm curfew and restaurants can only do delivery and take-away.
Can't find anything official. Anyone know more?

Off-licences have been added to the government's list of essential UK retailers allowed to stay open during the coronavirus pandemic.

We went to Makro about 2pm. The car park seemed busy, but inside pretty normal. Some staff were wearing perspex face shields as well as masks. Checkouts were only half open, but the queues were only 2 or 3 people. Stock seemed as usual. Pretty easy to stay 2m apart, except at checkout with the cashier.

The delivery and takeaway was announced for bangkok. Maybe doing it everywhere is fair.
