Re: Vitamin supplements
When it comes to multivitamins, I've been taking Centrum Silver for a while now. Much as I try, my diet is not what it should be. Initially, I noticed a greater sense of 'wellbeing' and extra energy after a few days on Centrum. I did stop for a while and reverted to my usual lethargic self. I now take one a day and I feel fine.
It does have pretty much all the vitamins and nutrients you can imagine!!

Re: Vitamin supplements
Most pharmacists have them but expensive. You can get them from Lazada much cheaper.
I was paying close to 1,000 baht for 90 locally but you can get 325 from Lazada for around 1,400 baht. Free delivery in a couple of days. They have pretty much all the Centrum brands aimed at age and available for men or women. The ones I get are Centrum Silver for age 50+ men.

Re: Vitamin supplements
I'm a regular buyer from Lazada, but never ever considered vitamins from them. I have had to buy vitamins regularly since my 2012 operation. Some good savings there - thank you.

Fascino in MV has the best selection and the best, albeit not inexpensive, prices.
Vitamin C: Buffered (non-acidic) 500 mg.,Blackmores: 214 Bht for 31 tablets.
Magnesium: Vistra, Magnesium Complex, 331 mg.
If you want quality you'll have to import. I use iherb.com. Decent prices but you'll pay for shipping, vat, sales tax & import duty. If you decide to import use the most expensive shipping. You'll get your package within 10 days. If you use DHL, when it gets to Thailand, it transfers to Thai post. In the last yr. i had 3 packages "lost". When I used the expensive shipping all packages were delivered.
As far as a multivitamin goes. Centrum products are loaded with excipients such as titanium dioxide, ie, white paint, that can be harmful and are synthetics. You'll only absorb about 1/2 of the amount listed. However it's better than nothing. My knowledge comes from 10 yrs. in the health food store business.
You have to be careful with magnesium, too much can cause diarrhea. "Too much" is an individual thing. Generally you're OK with less than 1000 mg. daily.
D3 is best absorbed with K2. Unless you have a specific condition which calls for larger doses, 20 mins. a day in the sun will give you enough D. Eating greens will supply magnesium and citrus will take care of Vit C. For those of us less diligent, vitamin supplementation is necessary.
if you have other questions you can PM me. That will eliminate the boogeymen that lurk in the shadows of the forum.

Are Centrum Multivitamins Dangerous?
Question:
I read an article stating that some of the ingredients in Centrum multivitamins may be dangerous or toxic. Is that true?
Answer:
The safety of certain ingredients in some Centrum multivitamins - especially binders, fillers and coloring agents - has been questioned on various websites. These ingredients are not unique to Centrum vitamins but are found in many brands of multivitamins and other supplements and include polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, BHT, modified corn starch, and coloring agents such as Yellow 6 Lake and titanium dioxide.
ConsumerLab.com has reviewed the evidence regarding the safety of these ingredients (which are listed as "Other ingredients" on supplements and as "Inactive ingredients" on medicines to distinguish them from "Active" ingredients). It is true that in amounts higher than that used in Centrum supplements, some of these ingredients can have dangerous or toxic effects. More information about these ingredients is found in our review article about Inactive Ingredients. Note that some ingredients, such as certain coloring agents, may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
In the amounts in which they occur in Centrum multivitamins, they are safe. By law, any inactive ingredient added to a supplement must be an FDA-approved food additive or generally recognized as safe (GRAS).
Centrum multivitamins also contain calcium in the form of calcium carbonate and this, too, has been mentioned as a concern on some websites. However, calcium carbonate (the form found in oyster shells and most commonly used in supplements and antacids), is not inherently unsafe. While there are some differences to consider when choosing which form of calcium to take, the potential for issues such as increased risk of heart attack with large servings of calcium and interactions with medications and other minerals is not limited to calcium carbonate, but includes any supplemental calcium.

Re: Vitamin supplements
Milk Thistle is also a good supplement to take for those that like a drink, it is an elixir for the liver apparently. Very expensive in Thailand but you can buy them online.
