No and I didn't think to ask because I won't fall under that category.Big Boy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 5:25 pmDid they say in what form that proof had to be presented?handdrummer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 8:08 am If you're receiving 40,000 a month you must prove that it came from outside of Thailand and it's from a verifiable source, i.e. a pension find or social security.

The only witness that I was told about is the landlord/lady that must accompany you if you're applying for a marriage visa. To know the rest of the paper work I suggest that you go to the main imm. office and pick up form TM7 & the printout, from an officer, of the "Required Documentation For Applying Visa For An Extension To Support Thai Wife or Have a Thai Husband."PET wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 12:03 pmI would be very interested if you can outline the whole issue/requirements as to the witness and what they have to do please?handdrummer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 8:08 am Last week I went to the imm. office in Hua Hin, with my wife, and she asked the list of question I'd prepared. The officer's supervisor was sitting next to him and if he made a mistake she corrected him. Vis a vis the money, for a marriage visa, this is what I was told. It's either 400,000 in the bank for 2 months prior to renewal or changing to the marriage visa, OR, 40,000 per month. If you have the 400,000 you don't have to prove where it came from and you can remove it after you have you're visa. If you're receiving 40,000 a month you must prove that it came from outside of Thailand and it's from a verifiable source, i.e. a pension find or social security. An investment acct., such as Schwab, is not acceptable. The officer was very polite and friendly. The paper work, for a marriage visa, is mind boggling and I won't attempt to go into it here.

I still don't understand this new witness thing, do you have to bring someone every year? The same person or a different one? What if you own your house and don't have a landlord ... or don't even live in Hua Hin ... or got married 15 years ago in another province or country?
Whoever said the marriage extension was easy clearly has no idea what they're talking about! You can understand why people pay 'agents' and under the table to do these things.

Re: Asking immigration about marriage visa requirements
I just submitted my renewal for my marriage visa yesterday, and what they needed which was different this year than last year was copy of I'd card and housebook from someone which knows me and my wife, and this person must have residency here in Hua Hin (Hua Hin address in their housebook). Beside this all the usual docs same as last year.

The requirements at HH Immigration are the same as last year with the exception of the witness.
There had been mention that the witness has to attend in person but this appears to be no longer the case.
Just more paper work than extending the 'O' and this is the way I shall go now.

If the witness doesn't have to attend in person, how can they be a witness? What other means of witnessing are there? A note, an affidavit?

They get a copy of ID card and Housebook. How hard do you think it is for Immigration to look up that person if they need tohanddrummer wrote:here had been mention that the witness has to attend in person but this appears to be no longer the case.

Re: Asking immigration about marriage visa requirements
A witness more often than not is just a signatory to a document. Witnessing a will, passport applications are a couple of examples. There are many many more.
Witnesses to a marriage or a court procedure requires the person but that's more the exception than the rule.

Re: Asking immigration about marriage visa requirements
I had to get 2 Thai witness, along with their house books to get my Visa ( family visa) but a different immigration officer might tell you different again. Along with many many other documents.
Re: Asking immigration about marriage visa requirements
Family Visa is this something new as against Marriage Visa - which is the subject ? On this matter what date did you get the visa you refer to?

Re: Asking immigration about marriage visa requirements
Fabman may be talking of an extension because he has children/dependents here. Very similar to extension based upon marriage. The requirements are a little different. i.e. proof of parenthood by birth certificate etc. The financial requirements, I believe, are the same.
