28 Heroes turned up for yesterday's South Takiab beach clean. Unfortunately, the effort was cut short for the 2nd consecutive week, the rain came within minutes of the start. However, in just 15 minutes our Heroes cleared 40 Kg of rubbish.
Better luck next week guys, but 40 Kg in just 15 minutes is a huge achievement in itself. Thank you.

Not our regular Trash Heroes, but Heroes just the same.
I often read that locals don't take care of their environment (rightly so in many cases), and that education should start at an early age. I've just come across this article in the latest Hua Hin International School Newsletter showing that they care.
Don't you just love the leading kiddie with his huge bag of swag ? A great effort guys - lets hear of more similar initiatives.

That's great. `In Bang Saphan, we live on the beach and about twice a year the kids come and clean also.

But isn't that because they are told to do it, not because they wish to, plus where are the Thai adults?

I would think they enjoyed the day at the beach doing something useful; and if you watch Papaya's weekly posts, there are usually plenty of Thai adults. I don't see any Farang adults in the photos either. Then again, this was about the kids - would you rather they made no attempt to educate them?

I would love Thais to be better educated and care more about their environment, unfortunately for most it is not important, hence the terrible state of the Thai environment.

Re: Clean Hua Hin's beaches movement - Trash Hero
Think they were down here (PKK municipality / Ao Prachuap) last week, as saw a bunch of 'yellow' shirt, all posing for photo, picked up a bit of trash, from around the pier, then left. Seemed more like a photo opt, than anything.
Didn't really cover much. Think also, as posted earlier, the students get beach duty every now and then. Actually fairly clean surf area, especially a day or so after the surf side weekend night market.
For some reason, they only put the bins out, during the weekend market. Other days, there is only like 2 or 3 bins, for a few kms of seawall walkway. Really silly, as there is no place to put trash, and actually surprised it's not littered more.
