Fish and Chips
Re: Fish and Chips
Call it Dogfish if you like, it's still shark.
Re: Fish and Chips
At a chippie,,,,,,,Haddock was the popular fish in Scotland, and in England Cod.
Now its actually quite difficult to get either when buying fish and chips, unless you specify what you want and sometimes pay a small premium[certainly in Scotland] for a type of fish.
Hake in Cornwall, very popular, fish and chips in Rick Steins in Padstow £25,00 plus, along the road,£8,50.no haddock or cod on the menu.
As long as you enjoy,,,,,,,,,,,,,everyone has different tastes.

Re: Fish and Chips
Too expensive, you can get the same thing for I think 140 Baht at Nana Pity on soi 88, at least you can on a Friday, not sure if it's the same price other days. I get the cod rather than the pangus at 220 Baht.

Not available after footie, and the photos they used to put all over Facebook looked far from being the same thing.

Re: Fish and Chips
Very interesting. I've been back in the UK for 7 weeks now, and the other day I found a local chippy that does plaice. At £4.80 (just for the fish) I thought it was pretty expensive, but translating that into Thai (c 220 THB?) makes it seem quite reasonable!
This is the way
Re: Fish and Chips
No, that's quite reasonable - plaice was always more expensive anyway.

Fish and chips
We had the fish and chips at Buffalo Bill's. Really good with mushy peas and a pickled onion. Even wrapped in newspaper.
I heard there is another really good location up by the station for excellent fish and chips. Have tried searching but had no luck.
Can anyone advise?
Cheers

Re: Fish and Chips
By "station", do you mean the train station? No one is responding so wanted to bump and make your question more clear. Pete

Re: Fish and Chips
Yes, I heard that there is a good fish and chips by the train station.
Failing that, what do others say is the best fish and chips in Hua Hin.

Mays kitchen are very good
Re: Fish and Chips
Yeah mays kitchen is a good one... Near train station might refer to soi 80, is it Barry's?
Re: Fish and Chips
May's kitchen is one of the best places for fish and chips. Real batter etc.
However, it's about 6 kms out of Hua Hin not far from the new immigration office.
It is well known for it's F and C. Also does indian food.
I think people are confusing Kim's Kitchen which is near the station. Not sure about their fish and chips.
