Good GP in Hua Hin area
Good GP in Hua Hin area
Can anyone recommend a good GP in the Hua Hin area who speaks good English. Need quarterly check-ups, regular prescription medication, etc.

Doctor SARAN in Soi 51 is excellent and his English is 1st class. His clinic is half way down Soi 51 on the left coming from the main road. His number is 032 511 786 but his receptionist can not speak anything other than Thai. He is only there a couple of afternoons or evenings each week. He is definitely there Friday evening when parking can be a problem. There is a sign outside showing when he is open but it is in Thai therefore do what I did and photograph it then have it translated.

Generally there are few to none family drs (as in UK, Canada, KK, S'pore, Malaysia or other commonwealth countries) 98% of Dr/patient interactions are in hospitals.
Donna Robinson, a British lady, fluent in Thai is excellent, she is in bkK.

Excellent English speaking doctor.
Was told that he does not charge elderly patient. Not sure what is defined as "elderly".

Dr Saran also holds clinic's at San Paulo hospital, not sure of his timetable, but have personally experienced a consultation with him there, and extremely impressed.I believe his basic charge their in the hospital is 800 baht, obviously plus any medications or additions.

OH well, the secret is out
Dr. SARAN has been my GP (and friend) for 13 years and to me represents the good old fashioned family doctor. A visit will entail a good old fashioned examination (none of this new electronic machine measurement stuff) if he is unsure of a cause or line of treatment he will immediately refer you, often making an appointment for you over the phone
Originally he was at Petcharat hospital and the Polyclinic and has had his private clinic in soi 51 for some time. The clinic is run by him and his dear wife.
During my time I've had two serious DVT attacks which he successfully diagnosed and referred me to appropriate hospitals (Bumrungrad - Bangkok, Petcharat - Petchaburi) for treatment whilst staying in touch with the doctors concerned. When I moved to Khon Kaen my doctors in the RAM hospital there always consulted him regarding my medical history.
Thanks to him and his guidance and remote hospital involvement I'm still alive.
His clinic is always full (mainly Thais). No receipts but I've never seen anyone ask for one or complain about the fees charged. My feeling is that fees don't matter to him. What matters is making you well.
I'm not sure he wants to expand his patient base as I think he is in partial retirement so please do not mention my name if you decide to use him

I doubt it, as he was cutting back his clinics when dear old Richard was alive and that was around 3 years ago.
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!

He was 3 months ago. Hours as posted previously in this thread. I went there by mistake, as I was looking for the ENT clinic.Hello, is Dr Saran still practising at the soi 51 address?
He told me straight off that ENT was not his specialty, had a look anyway, would not take payment and spent at least 10 minutes drawing a map for me to the correct clinic!
Also said that the other Dr. is more handsome than himself!
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

GPs are not specialists, that's why they're called GPs.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2018 4:13 pmGood to know. Re: Good GP in Hua Hin area
Dr. Pairat is a GP but his specialty is eyes. Just because someone is a specialist in one area doesn't prevent them from being a General Practitioner.handdrummer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2018 7:28 pmGPs are not specialists, that's why they're called GPs.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2018 4:13 pmGood to know. Sorry, in the U.S., my only frame of reference, GPs are not specialists and vice versa. GPs will refer you to a specialist and specialists treat only their specialty. Gotta pass the money around.HHTel wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2018 11:03 pmDr. Pairat is a GP but his specialty is eyes.
