Re: Very quite in huahin
Soi 94 has been heaving. Maybe the grand plan is working, and the trade is moving out of Binthabat.

Re: Very quiet in Hua Hin
Tourist indistry as a whole is quite and of course Hua Hin is getting diluted with birth of soi 94 , no need to blame politics royals and other bomb scares the people that are here are just useing different places, poco loco relocated so slowly people will resettle,,sad to see the loss of a few high profile venues in 94 , Kom hom ,Coopers, duecha spots even pizza garden I see is for sake and I do believe Nitts kitchen maybe closed , more and more opening this thinking the business available ,but not more hotels so the volume of businesses outlays the people using the soi,,,, perhaps time to promote 102 as the next new soi ,94 will kill itself off , popularity at its highest but if the tourist enters a patciaky filled bar or restaurant lacking atmosphere then they will with draw

Re: Very quiet in Hua Hin
so you are saying that you think that there are just as many customers but they are spread out more thinly in multiple spots. That may be true. If it is and it continues it would not be good for anyone. We all know that there are too many venues already and the constant opening and closing shows how difficult it is with so much competition. Can other posters comment on whether this cycle occurs in Pattaya and Phuket
Re: Very quiet in Hua Hin
Ever since I found Hua Hin (when there were just 40 bars), it has been rumoured that the intention has been to close Binthablock down as a girlie bar area.
Soi 80 was the first area. Personally, I've never seen the attraction in Soi 80, but I know I'm in the minority.
Baan Khun Por seems to have been the catalyst for a further move out of town. This time, rather than the small, sleazier bars of Soi 80, the bars in this area are larger (we won't talk about W & N Bar ). I acknowledge a few larger bars have arrived in Soi 80, but as it grew in a residential many are very small. I believe because much of Sois 88/94 restaurants and bars have grown on undeveloped land, so many are purpose built. I think 88/94 could become the new bar centre of Hua Hin.

Re: Very quiet in Hua Hin
Did you mean the area where the piers are? The shops were closed down some time ago, seems to be a decision made by the folk with guns that run the Country, claiming they are encroaching on public land. Make of that as you will?
Talk is cheap
Re: Very quiet in Hua Hin
pictures from http://plimpim.com/
the piers + poonsuk-rd (near temple)
the main problem in Hua Hin seems to be that it's not a proper city center
and distribution across multiple locations makes it very difficult for shop and restaurant operators to work profitably
and owners / owners who do not earn well can not continue to invest in their businesses and there will be a lot of lost places. - not very attractive at all.
it seems to start a hard time for business-people and shop- and restaurant-owners in HH.
but - for me -
the relocating of bars in such areas as soi80, maybe next in soi88+soi94 is not really attractive too.
all are long roads without any atmosphere and without any character.
i like that area bintabath - poonsuk - soi57 much more than soi80 or soi102.
===
maybe - more and more people and residents of HuaHin now are rethinking their stay in HH
and maybe they will start looking for other places in thailand or neighbouring countries to settle down.
take it easy

Re: Very quiet in Hua Hin
Yes rock star it will implode same pattaya and Phuket ,soi bintabhat is coming to an end soi 80 burntout awaits a new way 94 grown too fast already showing signs of falling despite it being full at the moment.Head of Tessaban has his plan from railway road widening to the establishing 94/88 to meet family tourism which is the way to go, but establishing a massive opening of bars and restaurants in such a short period is having it effect, investment has been high from individual business owners but they are already tying to move out or gone already ,I’m sure there’s a queue of would be lovers/investors to keep it propped up for another few years, but other areas of Thailand or neigbouring county’s are most appealing more now the Thai greed has growing out of control
Re: Very quiet in Hua Hin
I think most people are saying the same thing...there are lots of people here, tourists, part timers and residents. BUT the centre has become less popular, probably due to poor parking and better value local to where people now live/stay. One expat said to me that he never goes east of Petkassam road anymore as it’s too expensive and can’t park. There are food markets popping up everywhere ( now one each side of big C, Pala u Rd), lots of food/ bars locally which means you avoid the police scams. The bar owners are noticing this and there are more cheap beer offers on Binta than ever before.

About cheap beer offer at Binta. Happy Hour 60 Bhat after that 100 Bhat, you order a Sang Som cola before end of happy hour price will be 180 Bhat. even at some bars 200 Bhat . Of course the owner has to pay some people for his protection. Guess the name !NOKYAI wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 5:50 pm I think most people are saying the same thing...there are lots of people here, tourists, part timers and residents. BB ..You are 100% correct "You are in the minority" as soi 80 is where the expats go, I agree soi 88/94 Bonkai area is fast becoming a vibrant hub and getting more so as time passesBig Boy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 11:01 am Ever since I found Hua Hin (when there were just 40 bars), it has been rumoured that the intention has been to close Binthablock down as a girlie bar area.

Re: Very quiet in Hua Hin
Just to clarify, I rarely drink, so don't go drinking alcohol generally, although I might partake of a Guinness once or twice a month, so that limits my choice. If I were to visit drinking establishments, the majority of Soi 80 would not attract me.
Just an opinion from an outsider looking in.
Back in the day, when living in Soi 80, I used to frequent Dick's Office occasionally.
