Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
Yeah, I was at Kwality on Sunday and waited over an hour for the food...but well worth the wait! Owner apologized a hundred times.
Cheers,

I used Kwality soon after it opened for a take-away. When I got home with my daughter, the order was wrong and some items missing. Yes, we had to wait a while. It was a time when there were floods all around so couldn't be bothered to go back.
Maybe I'll give them another chance based on reviews here.

I like one on Soi 94 , about 400 metres up from Pet' road on left.

That would be S&S. Great food.

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
I went to S&S several times some years ago, when there was less choice for Indian food, and I have to be honest and say that I wasn't particularly impressed. The place itself is a bit of a hole, the prices were ok, the service was ok, and the food was ok, but the sauces were pretty generic. Pretty average all round, was my impression in those days. Once better options became available, I never went again.
This is the way

I agree with everything that d-m said-- OK, nothing special

I would say Shiva every time, although my son tells me Kwality is every bit as good, but you'll never beat the Shiva setting.

I agree withBB, the only thing against Shiva is it is out of town so you need transport or a taxi, but food and setting is at the top.Big Boy wrote:I would say Shiva every time, although my son tells me Kwality is every bit as good, but you'll never beat the Shiva setting.

Well..Me being a poor tractor-driver..I have to rough-it with street food on a daily basis..
The dragon was out of town the other night so I ventured up to Khun Por plaza on 88.. Got a Leo, & from the Indian stall in the corner I ordered lamb Rogan Josh, 2 naans & rice..the young guy asked me if I wanted my meal a bit 'spicy' I answered "yes please".
Well I was content..cold Leo, my food tasted damn good, plenty of meat in the bowl, not a monsta portion, but enough, & I'd say half hour of pleasure for 160B (plus the beer)..

When I have been there, they ask you what strength you want your curry using %age, so 100% would be “call the fire brigade my throats on fire” to 50-60% would be more like a Madras and 80% a Vindaloo - not sure what a korma would be?MDMK wrote:That Shiva looks lovely, have added it to my to-do list. That's a great tip, thanks! I'll stick to the madras-like percentages!Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2017 5:24 pm When I have been there, they ask you what strength you want your curry using %age, so 100% would be “call the fire brigade my throats on fire” to 50-60% would be more like a Madras and 80% a Vindaloo - not sure what a korma would be?

Good cheap UK style Indian food in Soi 88
I say UK style because the food in UK Indian restaurants is nothing like that cooked (for example) in the UAE by Indians for Indians. I like both styles but sometimes it's nice to get a taste of home (I heard that the chef at Take 5 in Khao Takiap has moved on, so I'm not sure what the taste is like there now, I heard a bad report from someone who in fact is a friend of the owner).
So anyway, at Baan Khun Por Food Court there's an Indian food stand near the music stage. Look at the stage and it's tucked in the corner to the left or the stage.
Butter chicken, chicken dhanzak, jeera aloo (spiced fried potatoes), chana masala (chickpeas) and two small portions of rice came in totally at 390 Baht and were delicious. Chang from Chill Chill Bar is 55 Baht for a large bottle, Leo 60 Baht.
You can't go wrong, with live music as well on Fri/Sat evenings (not sure about other nights).
