Which Magic Box for TV streaming
Re: Which Magic Box
As has already been said, Thai Expat TV and Expat Premium are the 'bees knees'. 70 -80 channels. All with up to 2 weeks catch-up and can be recorded for posterity. May not be the cheapest but it ticks all the boxes
Re: Which Magic Box
Which ever option you choose you do not have to buy the providers set top box; the software can be downloaded to a smart TV or laptop and connected to a TV by HDMI. The most versatile option is to buy a box like 'Minix' where you can download the software for 365 Sport, Expat TV, Ilike HD etc but also download oodles of apps which can get you free movies, series, documentaries etc. I watch BBC and STV on catchup for free and there's a whole load of stuff on KODI that people have put together that I just don't have the time or inclination to watch. If you have too many channels you end up watching cr*p for the sake of it like GLC and Storage Wars, Yuuuuupppp.

Re: Which Magic Box
Just to add, I have no set top box. All the software is downloaded on my pc and attached to the tv via HDMI.
Re: Which Magic Box
Couldn't agree more. Although I have the 200 Premium Channels from IlikeHD, I've watched 3 football matches. Mrs BB used it to watch a couple of Thai soaps (free service) in Cambodia last week.Pagey wrote:If you have too many channels you end up watching cr*p for the sake of it like GLC and Storage Wars, Yuuuuupppp.

Hi, How do you record from Expat premium ?HHTel wrote:As has already been said, Thai Expat TV and Expat Premium are the 'bees knees'. 70 -80 channels. All with up to 2 weeks catch-up and can be recorded for posterity. May not be the cheapest but it ticks all the boxes
There is only an HDMI port to the TV and I cannot find a recorder with HDMI In and Out.
Would appreciate any advice as catch up is great but as you say some things I would like to record for posterity.
Thanks
Re: Which Magic Box
I don't use a set box and only use the software on my PC. There are two controls 'take a snapshot' with a camera icon and 'record a video' with a movie cam icon. It records to a predefined folder on your PC.
Not sure if you can do this with a set-top box.

Re: Which Magic Box
Probably cheaper from lazada. More articles in news today about kodi being blocked though. My BBC stopped working about a month ago......

Re: Which Magic Box
Kodi boxes need constant updating (wizards and builds), like every two weeks, to keep the streams alive.
There will be shysters on farcebook trying to sell them at inflated prices but they'll only work for a few weeks. Buyer beware.

Thanks Buksida.
Sounds like it's not worth the hassle. Will go with the laptop/HDMI option.

Re: Which Magic Box for TV streaming
These boxes are "Android" devices and therefore only run Android-compatible apps. Some of the TV streaming apps, like Mobdro, are only released in the Android format. However, you can run them on a PC by installing an Android emulator like Bluestacks. You can then use all your Android apps on your computer.
I've just watched the NZ vs.Australia rugby game and Swansea vs. Man U on my PC using the Bluestacks/Mobdro setup with hardly any buffering.
