My house is very secluded, with private access to the sea. No danger you will be seen here by any Thais, other than my wife, and she quite enjoys seeing naked Western women, as do I. :D
So this is what's it all about being a naturist, eh? Being in the swing of things and not being shy about it?

Well, now I know.

BUT BUT my friend

these areas are very dangerous, getting robbed or raped is not at all an uncommon event..
Thanks for the answer.

We can easily live with swimsuit on when visiting Thailand for 14 days - no biggie, and after reading all the postings in this thread, we problably will.
No intension of provoke at all or bring ourselves in trouble - actually that was our point by asking here in this great forum.

Just one question: Would you say, that its generally not recommended in Thailand to stay at any quit, deserted beach at all (with swimsuit on for that sake)
because of the risk of being robbed or raped ?

The Thais we know here in Denmark, are the most nice and friendly people, we have ever met - surprised (and sad) to read that such matters is an issue in their homeland.

No, I don't think that's the case. Just take reasonable precautions, as you would anywhere. Don't take too much money or any valuables to the beach with you (or anywhere for that matter) & make sure you don't provoke people (ie not wearing clothes). I wouldn't recommend a woman being on her own in a remote deserted area, but that is a recommendation I'd make anywhere in the world.

I'm a single woman, originally from UK, and I've lived here for 5 years. I feel safer here, both alone & with friends than I've ever felt in my homeland. I've never been hassled beyond a little harmless flirting. The reason these attacks on tourists get so much press coverage (IMO) is because they are so rare. Rapes & robberies barely get column inches in national newspapers in the West. Here (when they happen to farangs) it's big news.

Take normal precautions while you're here & have a great time!!

sorry, bendict.

My reference to probable crime applies to quiet isolated beaches where you will meet no westeners and almost no thais.

I like these kind of places, mind you i usually have a thai escort, often nearby on bike/ pick up truck.

If you are in a swimsuit, there are countless of what i would call one cafe beaches, off the main track, not to many tourists, but perfectly safe, as the little bar/cafe or two respect their customers and keep an eye on things.

While snorkelling around rocky outposts i have mislaid my on land possesions, only to find they are sitting awaiting me in cafe when i get there because stray dogs / monkeys were going to steal them (though I have heard the term stray dog used by thais to refer to people).

But if you want somewhere remote, hire a big burly thai taximan and keep him sober, the bigger ones are typically police/ex-police or army or if not have 20 brothers / cousins who are, very convienent.

And in remote places even a small tip will make you very welcome.

On a last note, hope you have a great holiday, and its great to see people who ask these kind of questions first.

Regards
