Thanks for that info Malcolm.
Finally got up the ladder and checked my gutters. All dry inside and no visible signs of rust so I will have the same done at the sides and rear.
Presumably if they are fitted correctly with a slope to the downpipe there won't be any standing water in them so should not rust in the short term ?

Re: Gutters on Two Storey Property
My galvanised guttering has been up for three years and on recent inspection I couldn't find any rust, HOWEVER, where I have just had a problem is with one of the down pipes, I don't know if they are all like this, but mine are a much thinner gauge than the guttering and one of them has rusted through on a bend.Pagey wrote:Thanks for that info Malcolm.

Still good value Dannie Boy for galvanised if all you have to replace after 3 years is a down pipe, and replace it with thicker gauge.

I've had mine repaired but as you say, if I have to replace it, it will be a small price to pay.Pagey wrote:Still good value Dannie Boy for galvanised if all you have to replace after 3 years is a down pipe, and replace it with thicker gauge.
Re: Gutters on Two Storey Property
I have galvanised gutters and one of my neighbours has the PVC which he is very happy with, his looks better too.
I have a problem with mine that birds love to sit in mine, making a real mess and blocking them constantly. I believe with the PVC you can have a optional grate cover.
