World aids day , 1st .December

Found some sad and unsettling stats on HIV and AIDS rates amongst children in Thailand according to the UNESCAP Organisation.Seems some of the worst figures are for Prachup Khiri Khan-19.23% and Ratchaburi -11.48% for children under 2 years of age.I find these figures unbelievable!

Details are at the bottom of the page,(hit the return arrow at the bottom left of the page to run onto other provinces for their stats.)

I think perhaps they have the Burmese people factored into those figures. If they are on Thai soil, regardless if camp or abode, they count. What other Thai province has a border as long as PKK with Burma, and a building boom attracting manual labor that they can supply? The northern borders, possibly as long, but no big building boom as on the "sun coast".

I'm not making excuses to justify numbers, just making an obsevation. Either way or both ways, it is a sad state of affairs. Pete
