Should be interesting

Post by Hublet »

That should be interesting. I wonder if they'll get a bar licence? I know a Thai lady (a friend) who tried to get a bar licence just around the corner in Soi Selakam (you know the big old house on the right). She was going to start another guest house there. Anyway before she paid the lease she went to ask if she would get a licence for it and was promptly told no way because it was inside the 150 metre thing from the Temple. Now this was a Thai lady and where the Road Hole was is a lot closer. It should be interesting to see what happens.

As far as I'm aware the units in this complex will for the most part be small shops, with maybe a couple of bars.

The Road Hole is reopening in more of a restaurant format, with an open kitchen. Same great menu but with daily specials....sounds good to me.

Well said Guess, your direct responses are simply magnifico.

In my 9 years in hua hin the only go go bar has always been the chicken coop cha am :D
Maybe just maybe there is a reason why there has never been a go go bar in hua hin possibly the kings presence perchance :D

If they havent had one in nine years I am not holding my breath for one to start up here and certainly not that close to the temple
After all isnt bintabaht supposed to be moving soonish its been 9 years since i first heard that

I will never forget 8 odd years ago when I had my bar on Bintabart that the word always was that no bar etc etc could be allowed within those metres of a wat, school or other cultural thing.
We were further away than that. I paced it out one time - no problem, by a long way.
What's happened since?
I would agree that it seems to be the law, but the monks don't seem to mind. At least thay never did in my day and that's when there was 24 hour opening. I've posted on this subject ages ago on another thread. I'm just too tired now to look it up.
PS, I'm definitely not talking about go-go bars. Just a beer bar.

As you seem to be informed on the motivations of the Hua Hin Ex-pat community, please could you enlighten me as what you mean by "on what all of you came here in the first place for". I have been told many reasons for people coming here, the most common is the warm climate and low cost of living. What is your reason that you have assumed to be common to all?

Guess buddy i was going to ask the same question i only frequent Bintabaht area maybe 2/3 times every 4 months when my mates onshore
I am wondering fretting going psychotic in eager anticipation of what category i will fall into.

Just a flashback memory but i remember well one night in the Hogs Breath 9 years ago talking to Canada jim the owner at the time and asking him why he did not make his bar a go go bar he laughed so hard he nearly fell of his seat and said i quote "not while the queens alive"
end of converation
