Haircut?
Well finally moved to HH, sooner then expected actually but not gonna complain lol. So I live on Phetkasem road right near Soi 80 and was wondering if you guys know of any decent barber shops around here. I have to make it clear that by barber shops I mean NO women cutting hair, lol I have a thing against women cutting my hair as they can't ever do a good job.
Took me a few weeks while living in BKK to find a good barber but once I did went there every time and got my cut for 70 baht. I see like 4 or 5 places right by me but they are all salon type things and that's a no-no for me!
Any help would be appreciated!

Do you want a mod cut, suede or skinhead?

Re: Haircut?
If you head from Soi 80 towards the Chomsin Road traffic lights (Soi 70), turn left and head up towards the railway line there are a number of barbers on the right starting about half way up, the first one has a guy and 2-3 women - I normally get my hair cut by the older woman so not sure how good the guy is. About another 50-75 metres further up, there is a barbers with just a guy (and sometimes his wife) who does a pretty good cut. There are probably another two barbers in between these shops, but as far as I recall, only women cutting hair. Normal rate is 100 baht.

Re: Haircut?
Ok well thanks for the suggestions, I will definitely check them out. Have no choice, either that or shaggy hair and beard :/
Re: Haircut?
My FIL uses one of the places mentioned above and is always happy with his "I want to be a policeman" haircut, probably because it usually also includes a shave. In fact, I'm not sure what all goes on when he's there because he's usually in there for at least an hour.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

Precision Cut in Market Village (3rd floor) - yes 350 baht but the two blokes there know how to cut hair according to your head shape and hair type

Do you mean "blokes" in the loosest sense of the word TicTac...??? lolTicTac wrote:Precision Cut in Market Village (3rd floor) - yes 350 baht but the two blokes there know how to cut hair according to your head shape and hair type
Seriously though, I go there and have the same girl cut it every time and she does a decent job. And I'm a fussy bar steward...

Re: Haircut?
I need a trim!
I also need a real hairdresser/barber..who understands how my hair has been cut before
All I seem to find is women/girls who are happy to attack my hair with a comb & the electric trimmer..pull comb upwards till an inch of thatch is protruding thru', & 'buzz' the trimmer along..after 10mins she proudly announces "Set leiow".
I would like to sit in a chair & feel confident that what I have told the person wielding the scissors..will be carried out..not just a head-nod, & "Chai, chai"..Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
So you good folk of H.H.
Is there any place that understands English, & takes time to make a decent job..on the haircut itself, not spend 2 mins doing the haircut, & 15 mins of messing about with razors etc to somehow make you feel you've had a special job done by them..???

Re: Haircut?
Lek on Soi 94 is a very good hairdresser and I would recommend her however you will have to wait two weeks as she is getting married today and is off for two weeks.
Re: Haircut?
US I have been using the same barber here for 15 yrs! He was at the little shop on the night market but now moved out of town. Directions are... pala u rd, over bypass towards Hymonkul, first village, MOT station in yellow on R, mom and pop on L. He is in a shack ( and I mean that!) between this shop and the DIY shop. B60 for cut, shave etc.
He's old enough to remember how to cut your 'style' ....lol

Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!

NOKYAI...that sounds more like a 'go there,- I dare ya' suggestion..& ya know what?..I just might!
moja...2 more weeks is not a problem..I normally have a 'trim' around the time I need a 90day visa stamp..& that's 3 weeks away..
My 'hairstyle' is becoming rare nowadays..but still good for keeping the sun off my neck..

Re: Haircut?
I'm also in the same boat looking for a decent barber shop. Some good suggestions above that is worth a try.
Previously living in Pattaya I tried 4 or 5 different hairdressers/barbers before finding a lady to do it how I like it every time... For 80 baht...
