Re: Caption Competition
My other camel is a dromedary.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Re: Caption Competition
In England you can win a fish at the carnival games. In Dubai they do it somewhat differently...

Re: Caption Competition
Having had enough of the snotty nosed camel sticking her nose in the air each time he wanted to do what desert Arabs do, Ahmed bought a horse.
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

R E S U L T :
This has been our second week with a guest judge - a BIG Thank You to prcscct
(Interesting feedback: Not as easy as some may think. It would be a killer if a 40 to 60 entry week!)
This week's top 5 are:
5th Bristolian with "Oh camel ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant....."
4th Bristolian with "Ali considered the wife-swop-meet a total success. The bonus was that the camels spat at him less than his wife."
3rd richard with "Ahmed knew his FIL and MIL would be impressed with his selected dowrie for his bride. A horse for papa, a camel for mama and a scooter for their firstborn"
2nd pharvey with "With a 2-stroke, a 2-hump and 1 horse power, Xu Wen was confident of beating Xiangjang's Land Speed Record..."
1st place goes to Siani with "We three kings of Orient are....... the cockney version!
We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we travel afar
One on a camel, one in a car, one on a scooter, beeping his hooter
Following yonder star!"

Thank you very much to all who participated. Better luck next time to those who didn't win.
Siani you now have until 23:59 on 14 Dec 14 to post the next entry. Competition results will be announced on 19 Dec 14.

Re: Caption Competition
It really isn't easy and you can't play any favourites who you may know from the forum. That's made easy as the entries are presented without the names of the people who posted them, and one would be a bit nuts to go back to the forum pages to look them up.
Anyway, at least with me creativity and originality far out weigh side splitting humor, which I feel is a good way to approach it. Pete
EDIT: Also, dtaai-maai really shared a piece of 5th place as he supplied the background "groan' from the camel.

Re: Caption Competition
An interesting comment Pete. Just for info, our UK judges generally prefer the short, but funny caption.
Regarding the 'anonymous' form I send out, it is very similar to the form sent to the UK, but minus the marking column,

Re: Caption Competition
^ Short but funny you could go through them quite quickly and make a quick decision. That may fit the UK judge's schedules. That's why I said, at least for me, 40-60 would have killed me this morning as I read and then re-read a few times...eliminate and then elevate until I have a top 5 order I'm comfortable with. Pete

Re: Caption Competition
Editorial comment: The exercise key word is "caption". A caption can be a comic strip type of funny entry, or it can be thought out social, political or any kind of satire as well, or a serious comment if the poster feels strongly about an issue that may fit the photo......IMO. Pete

It wasn't a ctiticism Pete, purely an observation on different methods used by different judges. There is no right way, and the judges decision is finalprcscct wrote:^ Short but funny you could go through them quite quickly and make a quick decision. That may fit the UK judge's schedules.
