Re: Restaurant News
For lovers of Kuateow Nam (noodle soup), Tik's on Soi 112 has recently started selling it up to 4pm. I had some today and out of the hundreds of bowls I've had over the years this is by far the best I've ever had. More ingredients than I've seen anywhere else with a side plate of beansprouts and mint. You have the choice of clear soup or the brown variety. Plus of course you're seated in a comfortable restaurant (as opposed to plastic chairs by the roadside).
30 baht which makes it the best value I know.

I see that KFC have closed the Colonade Mall site. I know something about the company, they inspect all sites carefully before allowing a branch to open. The franchise holder can propose but the company does its own research. Because of this their failure rate is less than2%.
Colonnade Mall is a Black Hole, all outlets die and are sucked into space.

Yea if KFC can't make it work out there, I really can't think that anybody will ever be able to!

Re: Restaurant News
I went to the Indian restaurant on Lek Fai Road last night, after a recommendation on this board. Excellent meal; tables sat outside on the grass reminding one somewhat of the raj! The service was a little slow, but the owner/waiter did say that he cooked everything from scratch and the chicken took some time to tenderise. He graded spiciness on a percentage level (60%, 70%...?). I chose 70% and came out with a roasting mouth. The gratis chai tea really helped with that though. Highly recommended.
Tonight, I went to the thai restaurant which is about 100m up from the Indian on the same side. It's a strange little place; almost like you are in someone's front garden that they've decided to put a few tables into. None of the tables match, which adds to the quaint charm, as does the swimming pool befit with children's inflatables! I took the Masaman curry, which arrived sometime after my wife's larb gai. We both said it was the best thai food we have had in a long while. Together with two large changs, the check bin was only 330Bt for two. I don't think I'll eat for a few days with the amount of food we had! Also, highly recommended.
(While I am here, there is a small restaurant at the bottom end of Soi 88 that does wonderful breakfasts. I don't think it has a name, but it is a narrow place, about 80-100m up from the bend, on he left, by the big bike shop. It has 3 or 4 yellow umbrellas outside. Try the sausage and egg, or bacon and egg sandwiches. You won't be disappointed!)

Just where on Soi 88? Between Petchkasem and the railway line... or West of the railway line.pdm3547 wrote:I went to the Indian restaurant on Lek Fai Road last night, after a recommendation on this board. We drove along Soi 88 this morning and could not even find bike shop.

Yes, they are moving to Khao Takieb. It is on the same side as Pap John's and just a little past it. They will have 10 guest rooms above. I think that is why they are moving. More opportunities.theprice01 wrote:I went to Heavens Kitchen tonight on Chomsin only to find its in the middle of closing...a girl in the massage shop opposite says its moving to Koh Takiap?!?
I wouldn't have to manage my anger if people could learn to mange their stupidity!
Re: Restaurant News
From Petchkasem, cross the railway line and take an immediate right. After 20m, the bike shop is on the right, on the left hand bend. The breakfast place is about 80m on the left - look hard or you'll miss it.bapak wrote:Just where on Soi 88? Lek Fai Road is about 2km further on, on the right. If you get to the Court, you've gone just a bit too far.
Re: Restaurant News
Oy Restaurant on Soi 94 closes today in the current location to accomplish the move to the prior location near the railway (also on 94). He will not be running two resturants simultaneously as earlier speculated. His best guess is that he will be up and running in the new "old" location by around the 10th of November.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Re: Restaurant News
Limoncello has a branch in Bangkok on soi 11, serious food there, no idea whether this is an related to them.
La Botte is a new place located where Best Beans Coffee used to be, in the town houses past Ciccada market, excellent pizza there and an offer of any pizza for 200 baht before 5pm.
Tried Oy at the current place a few times and good food at the right prices.
Been to Naab Tong a few times recently for lunch, again great Thai food at really good prices
