How safe is it to walk around at night, I dont mean tbe early hours of the morning
What should one look out for
Been to Pattaya but dont know what to expect in HN
Any info would be great, thanks
As long as you're not walking about dark alleys out of the Tourist zone you will be fine. Take the usual travel precautions and common sense. Take a tuk-tuk to get home to your hotel/apartment after a night in town.
GN.
if look between pattaya and hua hin, hua hin is far away from pattayas safety. ofcourse common sense have to be with you anywhere where travel. I hope Hua Hin keep this peacefull atmophere and not come same like bigger places. This is one reason why i love Hua Hin.
On this note, I have never been told by anyone including my own family to take off watch, necklace, leave my mobile at home, hide my baht and keep my credit card in a secret pocket on the inside of my throuser linen, etc.
Nor do any of the Thais I meet.
In Brazil for instance I have been told to do this regularly and have always done, with one exception where I let my gold buddha neclace on.
I was allone in my room prior to going out and it has not got a clasp but the old style Thai gold closing mechanism which isn't a mechanism but a bucke in gold you bend.
It is difficult to open it with your own hands not being able to see what you do. clumsy exercise in front of the mirror, so I let it hang arround my neck. Walking down the road from hotel to a restaurant I got robbed of it. I guy on bicylce in the opposite direction just thore it off whilst riding and was gone.
In LOS I see and feel none of this kind of crime. I feel very safe.
The only thing I've ever been warned about by well intentioned farangs and Thais is that I should be careful of a fairly large gold necklace that I've been wearing continuously since 1981 except for when they make me take it off to get an x-ray. Both have warned me that it might get snatched on the street.
I have heard several stories of gangs of young Thais or a gang of ladymen attacking and rolling drunks in the wee hours of the morning, but anyone walking the streets alone drunk between 2 and 4 a.m. deserves what they get imho.
I've been warned simply not to walk after dark in several South American cities as well as in Nairobi and Belize City, so by most world standards, I would consider Hua Hin very safe if you don't do anything stupid.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Never felt unsafe in Hua Hin and I've often staggered home at 3 or 4 in the morning. Did very nearly got bitten by a dog, but that was the middle of the afternoon. Stared it down and it got bored.
I am here at the moment and no problem.Have never ever felt threatened in Hua Hin. Although there are a few lady boys on bikes floating around offering to do allsorts of rude things to you body. Last night they were 2 up on the bikes when I walked home at just after 1.00am when the bars al shut up early.
