So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.
It is a catchy tune isn`t it, Big Boy, although a translated version would be more appealing. I already have it on my Windows Media Player!! Can you tell me the point of this Champions League thing. Is it just a money making exercise or does it have some end result. It looks already that we need to give some teams a good hiding just to get back in the running after the drubbing we took at Prachuap!! I am just happy that the club has managed to get promoted and we can start planning for next season when we have to improve dramatically to stay in Division 1. Surely that has to be our main aim. Otherwise try and get Buriram and Chonburi to come down for a pre-season game.
Davy, the Fat Lady hasn't sung yet. All that we have done by winning our league is win a place in the Champions League. We are not promoted yet. It is the top 2 teams from each Champions League that get promoted.
Looking at the tables after game week 1, we have double problem. Prachuab are top of our league, and Satun are 2nd in their league. If we don't pull things around in our league, not only won't we stay in the 2nd division, we will be consigned to the doldrums of the the Southern League, with some huge distances to travel next season at the lower level.
Oh my god it is worse than I thought!! Only in Thailand can they make things so complicated. Having fought hard to gain the initiative and win the League it can all be undone by getting humped by 2 and possible 3 teams in this A league of the Champions League. Correct me if I am wrong but is this team BCC Tero playing Buriram in the Thai Cup Final? I fear the best we can do is finish third but will this allow us to then stay in Division 2? It is so confusing!!
If we don't finish in the top 2, then we will remain in the second division.
The complicating bit comes because we are the most Southerly team not in the South Region. If Prachuap and/or Satun get promoted, we could find ourselves dropping into the wilderness of the South Region, as opposed to the familiar Central West Region. Still Division 2, but a different Division 2. TIT, same, same but different.
Absolutely bizarre!! It could only happen it Thailand that a team plays all season to win the League to find that they could be penalised for doing so and basically "relegated" and forced to play in a "lower" league.

This could send the club back 10 years and they could be like Plymouth stuck in a Division they will never get out of!! Scary!!

I don't know the the answer, but doesn't something similar happen in the UK?
What happens in the UK's regional leagues? I guess there must be a lot of similar scenarios at the lower levels of the game. If a region is split into e.g. 6 leagues, how does a team get into a higher league?
I believe Hua Hin City have had a charmed life so far. There was a local publication giving a potted history of the club just over a year ago, which stated, "Hua Hin City is clearly on the move in an upward direction having already progressed from Division 7 to Division 2 in only 2 years . This is a professional Club with strategies in place for junior development, significant sponsorship in place and BIG plans for the future. Khun Dom’s goal is to have the Club in the First Division League within two years."
