OK Guess - great idea.

Why don't you come down to Pak Nam Pran next Sunday & try it out personally? We can then discuss these tactics & try them out.

Unfortunately they don't make farang sized Dragon Boats - it seems.

If we sat 2 abreast like the locals - the bloody thing would sink for sure.

Yes, we might be sitting in the wrong positions, as nothing has been allocated. For some reason, everyone tries to avoid sitting behind me, though... Actually, I'm not the worst one at splashing everyone any more... :D

But I'm wondering how tight those raffia ropes were when the photo was taken, because as all of the crew of the SS Crazy Farang know, those little things are pretty crucial to stop us ending up in the water

I'll give that a miss I think. I have already been in two sinking boats in my life (and I wasn't driving either of them BTW). I have no wish to make it a hatrick.

Just looking at the photos is scary enough.

BTW the Buksi photo explained quite a bit.

Sorry I had to leave early on Sunday - had to go and look at a new boat.

Glad to hear there was some serious training done

Got reports back from the coach and he suggests that all is not lost but maybe we should put in some extra sessions before the big day

We can discuss this next Sunday, which will otherwise be our penultimate training session

The Evason have also told me that they will come with the race-day shirts in the next few days :D

All members of the crew of good ship Crazy Farang are hereby summoned to attend practice at 1.00pm today at Pak Nam Pran.

Let's give our opposition something more to laugh (whoops) worry about

My regular driver (one of the team) is sick and there's 3-4 of us without transportation. Any ideas?

I have a suspicion that it was the previous weeks gruelling pace that kept the good doctor away. It was another tought one today but as the race day is nearing and we are about 159488 light years away from our competitors, I can see the coach pushing for some extra practise. Usual thanks go to Barry and his hospitality and Dawn for the garlic bread (sorry about you getting wet on my behalf.) Evason where nowhere to be found.

My arms hurt!! :(

Another tough but good practice. Nearing the race day -ooer! As BG said, the competition are wa-a-y ahead of us. I really hope one of the Crazy Farang's has a cunning plan to fall back on

A couple of good sprints - at one point we had the boat surging forward in spurts, which was really a good sign. And very little water in the bottom of the boat, although plenty on BG in the first leg & me on the second, due to the shovel-paddle action of the person in front of us. Cooled me off on a very hot day

sanuk maak, as usual. Thanks for the hospitality & food, Barry.

Do these races coming up have a handicap system based upon experience? If they do, and they gave you guys a head start of 20 meters or so, it may end up being more competitive.

No one has said anything about qualification heats also? You may find you all are rowing 3-4 races on race day? (See vitamin thread).

Is there a way to strap a jet ski under a boat? :D  Pete
