I thought all the talk about beating Italy by 60-odd points in order to get a better points difference than Ireland was pretty silly. As far as I was concerned, it was always a question of making sure of the win, then hoping the Mangeurs de Fromage could get their collective fingers out of their cul and beat the Irish.

And for the first 10 minutes, it didn't look like an English win was going to be guaranteed. Fortunately, the scrum sort of got their act together, the lineout was excellent, Care, Farrell and Brown were excellent too, and England went from strength to strength.

13 minutes from time, a 60-point win looked feasible. But then came the slightly fortunate interception try, and that, combined with the disruption of the rhythm caused by the substitutions (apart from Tuilangi, who looks awesome), was really that.

The last England try was a hoot, with Italy trying to run it out of their own 22 after the 80-minute mark, and then losing possession. Again.

Worth mentioning that Robshaw, after a dodgy start, has turned out to be a really good skipper.

Well done, England, and, much as I hate to say it - ALLEZ LES BLEUS!

Great win Ireland and a fantastic and well-deserved finale for Brian O'Driscoll.

This'll make St. Patrick's Day extra special on Monday :D

Yep, that just about makes it bearable.

As for St Patrick's day, Barry, I doubt you'll have recovered from the hangover...

Well, a pint of black velvet for breakfast this morning has certainly helped keep the mood going, so we'll just carry it on into tomorrow :naughty:

If only I'd thought of it!! :duck:

Congrats to RZR on the Forum win and to BOD and the boys on the Championship!

The finish to the Championship was certainly a damn sight closer than I thought it was going to be!! Beelzibub and his minions pushing "hellish" close to the required points difference and the Emerald Isle just pipping the Surrender Monkeys in Paris.

Stuart Hogg's rush of blood put an end to the Cardiff match as a contest within the 1st quarter, although it was good to see the Welsh backs finally run with the ball....

Please oh please oh please keep Priestland away from the No 10 shirt until his form improves.......

Did anyone else watch the English premiership final yesterday, Northampton won by 4 points after extra time and with a try scored in the last 5 seconds decided by the video referee. A cracking match.

Re: England's tour of NZ with the 1st test of 3 starting Sat June 7/14 &21st live on Setanta sports at 13.35hrs how do members feel England will do?
OK 1st test we sadly have a depleted squad so can't see us winning that but can we mahe it 1-2 or even win one of the tests?I believe we can but will take a superhuman effort akin to the great Lions victory in Australia in July.

Very pleased for Northampton. My best mate's son used to play for them and still does corporate events for them. Great result.

Thrilling match -the very best of the Premiership -great to see Northampton finally win that crown !
Just hope the England players are not too knackered when they finally join the tour party & come up against the Kiwis in 2nd test!
