BB, can you give me the details of that package, i.e., call minutes, text minutes, 3G internet minutes, cost etc., and is it a monthly plan or can it be set up for a longer period of time without having to go pay again? I have a Samsung SII and don't use any of the 3G internet stuff as I am a pay as you go user at the moment so I only use the internet when in range of free WiFi.

All the package is giving me is 3G Internet for 399 Baht/month via AIS. I don't use it a lot, but really miss it when it's not there. Main use is football scores as they happen, facebook and wi-fi tethering when normal Internet is out or there's a power cut.

[Edit] It gives me unlimited access.

Just back from Telewiz, and the little girl worked her magic on my phone - everything is working fine :D

Now the surprise! When I read the speeds Sarge was getting on his dongle a couple of weeks back, I thought it was BS (sorry Sarge). Basically, the system on his dongle will be similar to what I've got on my phone. I did a speed test in Market Village and was received 8.33 Mb down and 3.83 Mb up. I tried it at home (where I barely got 1 Mb down before) and got 6.26 Mb down and 3.46 Mb up.

IMHO, well worth the extra 49 Baht/month.

With wireless tethering on my phone, I now have to decide whether I still need 3BB.

Big Boy, what tele company and plan are you now using?

Want to suggest this to my girlfriend who wants to skype all the time, but often with speed connection problems...

The honest answer is that I don't really know  . I was actually quite wound up 2 days ago when they were asking me to pay for a service I'd already paid for. However, they were actually right, and the benefits are well worth it.

As far as I can tell, I am on the AIS Internet Unlimited Package at 399 Baht, which gives me 1GB high speed downloads.

I've just enquired what I've got left this month, and it says
Internet 1GB 34MB 97KB (after used up, unlimited usage at specified speed from package applies), Unlimited Wifi.
Greater data download packages are available. Get your girlfriend to nip into Telewiz and discuss her requirements with them.

Ok so I now have a new phone that has Android 4.2.2. It seems to have a lot of stuff included that I dont really want but there doesnt seem to be a way to uninstall them.

It will let me remove apps that I have downloaded but not ones that are on it or part of the OS. Any ideas how to get rid of them?

You need to root your device and then download an app called 'root uninstaller' which should let you get rid of most of the pre-installed bloat

Sweet, that worked - now removing all of the bloatware and Samsung apps.

I read about rooting (androids :D ) but all the warnings scared me. Is it really pretty easy and safe?

Took about ten minutes, used this which worked without a hitch: http://www.kingoapp.com/

Edit: would be handy to have another list of recommended apps since I now have the space for them ...

Depends on your phone model.

Only root if you have a valid reason to. Once rooted, apps (any even more dangerously, you! :D) have access to the entire filesystem on your phone.

Anyone know if there is a good free spam app for Android email? Thunderbird does a sterling job of filtering the spam out but all of the crap still lands on my phone when the accounts have been setup there.

No spam filter for Android then? What do people use for email on their phones, the built in system or another app?
