Richard is right, it folds out to a tiny petrol driven car as seen here http://www.microcar.org/2004/suitcasecar/
And just to prove that Mazda knew who their target audience was, here's the MX5 with enough custom luggage for a hairdryer, some rollers, various scissors and a little of whatever is in a blue rinse.

Closer, because the red lights would light up sequentially depending on what you were doing, which I think is now becoming popular in the US
