This car was very unusual but why and what is it.

I almost bought one from a dealer in Gatwick.

Looks like a Lotus Eclat...... as to unusual, will have to have a ponder - failing that, a GOOGLE!!

I'm pretty sure it isn't a Lotus but whatever it is, I've never seen one before. It looks like a kit car or something of that nature.

The seating on this car was distinctively unusual

Also had a small engine which was fitted midships.

Oh and not a kit car.

It's a Simca which unfortunately later became Talbot

Matra Bagheera

Made by matra engineering in partnership with simca under the now defunct chrysler europe group.

It was considering its engine size quite nippy in its day, handling as with many mid engined cars superb.

The only car I have seen with 3 front seats.

Yes, I don't know either but whoever designed that wanted one of these and I don't blame him, I would like one of them as well!

One of the better looking cars to come from this European country that has quite a large auto industry.
