It's a Humber Humberette from 1904 and is still running in New Zealand - courtesey of Mr Google I'm afraid
Correct, a Humber Humberette Coventry Royal to be precise.

'Keeping up with the Ross family in Central Otago in 1904 would not have been easy.

It was the Ross family who owned and brought the first car to the region, making motorcar history.

This week, the 1904 Humber Humberette Coventry Royal the family owned - affectionately known as "Josephine" - arrived at the Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery in Alexandra to be put on display after being stored in a shed for the past 40 years.

The Humber was bought in Dunedin by Captain Bob Ross who lived in Alexandra and worked as a dredge master.

In the 1950s it was given to Ophir man Bob Turnbull to restore. Bob Turnbull Trust chairman Peter Brabant said Mr Turnbull restored the car and it had been "tucked away in the back corner of his shed" ever since.

Before Mr Turnbull died last year he said he wanted the car to go on display, Mr Brabant said.

While the car was insured for $50,000 it was believed Mr Ross paid between £100 and £200 for it.

Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery collections manager Rachael Welfare said the car would be on loan from the trust and displayed in the Heafey Lounge at the museum.

"It's such a massive piece of Central Otago history," Miss Welfare said.

At one stage a saw was attached to the back of the car and it was used to cut wood, she said.

I agree that it looks like an amphibious car but thought they were called Amphicars built in Germany during the 60's?

The Germans did make the Amphicar but they were much smaller than the one in this picture. The front looks like it has a mesh type grille so perhaps not water resistant.

Looks pretty flat at the front too eh? Made me think of a more European design. Deffinately got me stumped for now.

Yes, I've never seen anything like that before; is it made out of fibreglass? It has the look of some early fibreglass cars.

Oddly enough I came across it whilst rummaging for the little 1904 Humber, based on the hopelessly wrong 'clue' from Nereus. I won't spoil the chase, except to tell that that Nereus' wrong clue for the Humber will help with this car.

No, not an Amphicar. Yes, the body is fibreglass.

If you go looking for Irish produced cars, you don't have too much choice! It's a 1960 Shamrock:

Talking of wedgies ( ), there's one that inspired a Star Wars vehicle. A 2-seater sports  coupe of a rather dependent nature. Quite fruity too. Not renowned for its cornering.

Well, I didn't post it as a "clue" wrong, hopeless, or otherwise!

My apologies, I may have been slightly heavy handed laying the blame of looking for the Humber in the wrong hemisphere on your 'clue' that wasn't a clue.

I really like this quiz though, when someone posts a reply, even if it's not the right one, and you follow it up, it leads you to all manner of interesting pages that you wouldn't normally bump into.

Ahh yes the Bond Bug, I always wanted to import one into Thailand and do a remake. (Copy)

It would be simple to fit the Daihatsu 650 efi engine into one and mated to the 5 speed box.

There are 2 on e bay at present with one asking a silly price, the second one that needs work would be a great project out here.
