Looking for Scotch eggs

Post by falcon »

Hi,

Anyone know of anywhere that is making scotch eggs in HH at all? I have been loking for these for a while now but cant find them anywhere except for a shop in Pattaya, run by an english guy but thats far too far to go just for a scotch egg!

Thanks for any info,

Ham and Bacon used to make them.
However, why not make them yourself. It's very easy and a much cheaper option.

I've seen Scotch Eggs on sale in Villa Market.

Victoria up 80

For excellent scotch eggs, pork pies and numerous other home-made Barry specials.

Best place in town too for..... Ham, egg and chips. Fish chips and mushies, Liver and bacon, Cottage pie and good breakfasts.

Well OP, now you know where to get nice homemade ones, so no need to pay over-the-top prices at places like Villa Market.

As another poster has already mentioned, you could also make your own. It's super easy, and it allows you to experiment with different flavors. I haven't made any in ages, but I might just do so in the next day or two to see how my Isaan in-laws respond to them. So far, I've never managed to get my FIL to eat any type of food other than Isaan food. My MIL is slightly more flexible, and I have seen her digging into some samosas I made a while ago. Oh, and she enjoys KFC and that garbage you get from Pizza Hut.

Scotch eggs may be a hit since practically all Thais enjoy eggs, mince, and anything crumbed and deep fried. We'll see. :thumb:

I've heard a lot of good things about Barry's place but I've yet to give it a try. Richard, do you know what fish is used for their fish and chips? Oh, and how big a bribe would I have to pay to keep those dreadful mushies away from my plate?

There is actually a mini-Thai version of Scotch Eggs - we buy them at the floating market in Ampawah sometimes.
They are quail's eggs wrapped in 'tort man', i.e. minced pork and spices/chilli that they use here to make small meet balls/patties - quite tasty!

Interesting stuff Barry....I can't say I've ever seen them. I wonder if they ever sell them in and around Hua-Hin. I often see the plain quail eggs, but that's about it. Talking about eggs....I was informed by my daughter the other day that fried eggs are Thai food, not Farang food.

Any foods eaten by Thais are "Thai" foods. Any foods not eaten by Thais, are therefore Farang foods.

My wife has just cooked a bread pudding (she brought the mixed spice over as an essential from the UK :? ). She and the grand children can't wait for it to cool so that they can eat it - does that make bread pudding Thai food? :D
