Re: Thai grammar
Quoting from David Smyth's book:
Two substantial books on Thai grammar addressed to English speakers
are Thai Reference Grammar (1964) by Richard Noss and Teaching of
Thai Grammar (1982) by William Kuo. Noss’s book, based on his doctoral
thesis, is a detailed and insightful descriptive grammar that no serious
student of Thai can fail to benefit from; however, it is addressed to those
with a background in linguistics, and its use of linguistic terminology is
at best bewildering and at times simply intimidating for the majority of
beginners. Kuo’s book, by contrast, is a much more down-to-earth workbook
for practising key structures, but it does require a prior knowledge
of Thai script.
Bamboo Grove, you seem to be good at this. Any idea where I can find a PDF copy of William Kuo's Teaching of Thai Grammar (although Google searches tell me it is actually called Teaching Grammar of Thai). Would love to have that one. Have you read it? If yes, recommendable?

Re: Thai grammar
Roel, I haven't seen this book and did not know of its existance. I will ask from my Thai teacher in the Uni if he knows the book and where to get it.

Re: Thai grammar
Thanks BG but 80 USD for a soft cover is a bit too much for me (add shipping cost and running the risk the book will never make it to my door). I guess I have to wait for another opportunity. But thanks for your trouble.

Re: Thai grammar
Yes, it is expensive. There were couple of other sites where it was even more so. Can we assume that it is a very great book or that there are only a few of them around?

Re: Thai grammar
Assume the latter, with only a few linguistic nerds interested in them so not many copies printed.

There is a fairly comprehensive, some what daunting, linguistically oriented book list at:
