Obviously everybody's tastes are different, but if you can get two pints of beer, apple pie and ice cream, with a "free" proper roast dinner thrown in and all for about 235 baht, I think you would have to search far and wide to get a better deal.toeknee wrote:Sounds like a clever marketing / advertising ploy, possibly because there's more $$ margin in alcohol therefore off setting / compensating for the cost of the food.
As has been mentioned before "There's no such thing as a free lunch!"
but there maybe better deals to be had, as such with Bobby's Bar

Agree with JW and Danny Boy. I have had many great evenings at Bobby's Bar. Bobby is as straight a guy as you could find. The free sunday lunch is a good deal. The cynics who post their comments without even bothering to check out the deal are just sad dumb fools.

Sad dumb fools? Have you actually read the thread?Houdi wrote: The cynics who post their comments without even bothering to check out the deal are just sad dumb fools.

To be fair, jamiefrancis complaint was not the normal price of a beer, he complained that he was seemingly charged more than the advertised prices for beers.Houdi wrote:Agree with JW and Danny Boy. Though it does seem from other people's reviews that, if this was the case, it must have been a mistake, as there doesn't seem to be any other complaints of this practice.

Bobby & Nam are excellent hosts and it's a great hang-out...we were there a few nights ago and had a nice time!

For every one defending Bobbies Bar...my post was not a complaint but a comment.
I questioned the bill at the time and it appears we had strayed into the ++ zone.
We were taken down away off the advertised prices and not been told so.
A burger was advertised and we said that burger 2 please. Sometime later we were then asked did we want cheese, chips, salad.
It did not state the advertised item was a standard burger, just in a bun!
Or that what we said yes to was extra ++.
In the end a very expensive burger,Burger King would have been cheaper.
As for the beer price we were at a lost to understand and gave up asking, saying no more visits here.
Sorry not our sort of place.

Not my sort of place either. Always a little rip off.

Actually, I read the thread very carefully twice before I decided to post my comment. You obviously fit the above description perfectly.Dahling wrote:Sad dumb fools? Re: Bobby's Bar.
Thanks jamiefrancis for your sensible reply. Obviously you were dissatisfied and quite rightly have decided not to use Bobby's again. As you know, my comments were aimed at those who chose to make critical comments without even going to Bobby's. At least you tried it even if you didn't enjoy the experience !jamesfrancis1 wrote:Thank you Pleng.Pleng wrote:To be fair, jamiefrancis complaint was not the normal price of a beer, he complained that he was seemingly charged more than the advertised prices for beers.Houdi wrote:Agree with JW and Danny Boy. I'll read it again then, and see if I can find the post I never made criticising Bobby's.Houdi wrote:Actually, I read the thread very carefully twice before I decided to post my comment. I'm not actually interested in Bobby's per se - never been and not particularly encouraged to go at all now. My point was that calling people you don't know "sad dumb fools" for a thread as innocuous as this is a bit OTT.
