Bobby's Bar.
Bobby's Bar.
There's an old adage (which usually turns out to be true) that states; "There's no such thing as a free lunch!"
Bobby's Bar, on soi 102 advertises a "free Sunday lunch" provided a certain amount of alcohol is purchased.
Does anyone have any comments on this?

Re: Bobby's Bar.
Have been many times and have no complaints, real roast potatoes,
real Yorkshire puds and good company.Yes you do have to buy 2 small beers or
pay for your meal but it is still well worth the money.

Re: Bobby's Bar.
He used to offer (not sure if he still does as I haven't been there in a while) a free meal every day between 4 and 7, and all you had to do was buy a beer. The meals were different every day like mini hamburgers on one day and fish n chips on Fridays, etc., always a good expat bar especially if you like good company, darts, and pool.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Bobby's Bar.
If free food is what you are after go to Pattaya and look for ballons.

Where would I find said establishment?
Re: Bobby's Bar.
i've been to bobbys bar many times on a sunday, had a good meal good conversation and a good laugh all for the price of a couple of beers.
Re: Bobby's Bar.
Centremid,
It's on soi 102, a little south of Market Village, up beyond the railtracks about 2 kms according to what I've read.
Thanks to everyone else who responded. In the event, I decided to try Buffalo Bill's place. I am still sceptical about the "free lunch", but I respect your views. I had a very nice roast lamb meal. It wasn't huge, but it was delicious and very well presented. I may go back tomorrow and have a steak.
Alas, our 2 month stay in the LOS is almost at an end. Early on Wednesday morning I fly back, with my wife to Blighty.
We've enjoyed our stay, albeit a little awkward with the wheelchair and all. Margaretcarnes, you seemed to be quite "aware" of our predicament. (I recall an earlier post/reply which you made, and for which I thank you.) It's almost as if you have experience of someone with a disability, as most people cannot recall whether somewhere is wheelchair-friendly or not, unless they have actually had to push someone in one.
Thanks again to everyone. I'm sure we shall return to Thailand. Who knows, maybe we will meet at some time. Thanks also to the providers of this forum, it's been very informative and educational.
'Bye for now,
David.

For interest, Bobby's Bar is on Soi 102 but only about 2-300 metres past the railway line on the right hand side - at the moment they are laying a new concrete road surface, so traffic can be a bit disrupted.

Re: Bobby's Bar.
How strange that not one poster who had a "free meal" has mentioned the price of the beers they had to buy to gain this prize.
I have been once and when the bill was presented the cost had no resemblance to the prices advertised around the bar.
That's for food and drinks.

Re: Bobby's Bar.

Re: Bobby's Bar.
Spot on JW.
Hope someone will post the price of 2 beers(size as well) that qualifies one for a free nosh.

Re: Bobby's Bar.
I can only state what I know and that you need to spend a total of 200 baht and that can be a combination of drink and a sweet.I had apple pie and ice cream which cost 75 baht which went towards my 200 baht.
Draft Leo which is a full English Pint is 80 Baht and a small bottle is 60 or a large red wine is 100, so it does not take much to get to the 200 baht.

Re: Bobby's Bar.
Sounds like a clever marketing / advertising ploy, possibly because there's more $$ margin in alcohol therefore off setting / compensating for the cost of the food.
As has been mentioned before "There's no such thing as a free lunch!"
but there maybe better deals to be had, as such with Bobby's Bar
