@ Advocate...................The holes might be for storm water only but seems rather pointless since the small watering hole that was there has always been sufficient. Doing what they're doing now would be an extreme overkill. Those big 6-wheeler trucks are still at it from dawn to dusk, and the holes are just getting bigger by the day. Also, the land where this is taking place is/was privately owned by some local Thais.

Anyway, I'll keep hoping it's for a proper water supply facility. :D Then again, it could be a new storage facility for agent orange. :thumb:

Seeing as the backside of Market Village has full access onto this area, and indeed construction twaffic for the new multi-storey car park is accessing her relentlessly day and night via said back passage, ... I'd presume they'll be incorporating some kind of permanent access to the place upon completion in order to relieve the strain at the front entrance on the Petch. Or is that asking too much!?

we live near soi 6 and are constantly having water shortages , although some of that is down to the really bad planning of our housing project ( emerald hill )

the borfai area in general though does have water shortages , especially in the hot/dry season

really hope they are building something to resolve this !

Hi Fabman

I'm living in Natural Hill that's quite close from Emerald Hill...

I've been told that they take the opportunity of the big road works (4 lanes) to set up an improved water supply.

So wait and see :-)

I wonder how this will work with the plan to make the railway a dual-track system. That was announced a while ago and at the time it said it would require the removal of the shops on the railroad side of the road (at least near the station,) IIRC. That would mean in order to widen the road, the city would need to expand the width to the east -- there are LOTS of shops, stores, restaurants and even homes on that side of the road.

6 or 7 years ago, all the shops/restaurants were cleared along the railway line up to the station. The Tessabahn at the time said that is was to make way for a city bypass (that's when the plans were displayed in the Tessabahn) and it would be complete within 2 years! After a few months, when nothing happened, the shops/bar, which are there now, were built. Well after some years, the plan is finally seeing some action. The speed at which Hua Hin is growing, this is long overdue.

As for the dual track rail system, this was announced by the government as one of their many 'mega-projects'. I believe Thaksin had the same plans some years ago. Based on the usual timing, I don't expect that to happen while I'm alive. I'm sure this is a very low priority in government circles. They have much more urgent things to address. i.e. Water management for one in order to combat future flood crises'.

But, time will tell!

Agreed again

It was the railway business that brought me to Thailand in the first place - now more than 20 years ago.
'Double Tracking' was a hot topic then
